Still quoted *dances* biggrin

Hmm... I wasn't aware that our Dame Holda was another bit of inspiration for the Wiccan Lady. Seems there are bits of Trad Craft poking through after all, possibly evidence of the coven Gardner was supposedly initiated into. Most speculate it was a Trad Craft coven, and if that inspiration was indeed from that coven... it be a Germanic based one to boot.
Sounds like my kind of coven lol.
Considering the number of (often useless) arguments and flamewars that start when fluffies post in ED, why isn't this FAQ stickied?

Because it attracts fluff. I'm a bit tired of having to do the same arguments over and over again.
If one were interested in reading more about Wicca from Gardner's work, where would be a good place to start? Also, are there any other sources that are good?

This is a good start
Mmm, sacred texts is an excellent source for information on Wicca - you may also want to do background reading on the texts that influenced the 1950s occult movements in general, though you should of course understand how shaky the scholarship is.

Anyway - I have decided that the holiday section will be updated, but the names will be changed (or unchanged, as it were) from the old names usually applied to the more generic and more correct names. November Eve, May Eve, etc. and Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter Solstice.
There was a pretty big update - section three in the first part, which is about magic. This isn't something I've run by you guys before, which is to say that it is almost certainly incorrect in a number of places. I wrote it like I knew what I was talking about, too. Christ, I'm such an a*****e.
I so love you.

Let me have your babies. Please 3nodding

Wow, this is terrific. :3
And it seems I have joined you in permabanned-ness
You're getting banned too fast for me to follow who you are, anymore.

Precisely why I keep a healthy stock of PirateEire mules.

Like PirateEireII and PyraTerra.

Anyway! Assuming the position!

I can't see much wrong with it, but then again the magic side of Wicca isn't my srong point. I can elaborate a bit more on the whole "magic" vs "magick" thing though. This is the general explaination I give as to why I don't use the k, but why Ceremonials (such as Crowley) did/do:

What's with the "k" in magic?

The most common response to this question would be that is separates real magic from that of stage magic, which I can understand. Yeah, ok, it's a fair reason. But even so, some people still argue that this reason isn't good enough and there's no point in changing the proper English spelling, just to make it sound "special".
The reason people get so uptight about different spellings is mainly when people take it ridiculously far, or just use it to sound cool. As for some examples of the wild spellings of magic, Crowley certainly didn't use "majick", "majic", "magik", "magique", "majik" or "magickian". It's magic or magick, simple.
The k is of a symbolic nature in Gematria: Hebrew numerology. Here is a link to a page that explains it, just scroll down to "THE GEMATRIA OF MAGIC AND MAGICK".
In essence:

Quote:
A-Z : 1-26

M A G I C K

13+1+7+9+3+11=44

44 = 4x11

4+4=8

Significance of 4: Magic is achieved through the fourfold Way: To Know; To Will; To Dare and to Be in the Silence.

Significance of 11: 11 is also an expression of duality in Numerology

Significance of 8: 8 is another number of Magic, for it is referred to Hermes, the Lord of Magic and Messenger of the Gods. Here the Magic is concerned with both Activity and Receptivite in an infinitude of Duality. Also 8 on its side is infinity.

I looked into it a while ago ^^ Usually, due to the in-depth reasons for the k, I suggest that only Ceremonials, or those who have a firm understanding and working knowledge of numerology, spell it with a k.

Feel free to copy, edit, whatever you wish to that quote of mine razz
<3 Phoenix. I'll add that in, definitely.
