I like the politic way they differentuate between "British Traditional Wicca" and "Other people who call themselves Wicca."

NWC as I understand it, is a collaberation of different traditions of Wicca, and not one specific tradition it's self. This group works to keep Wicca as it should be, mystery and oath boud. The olde laws, or ardane state:
161 laws

So it be Ardane, that none but the Wica may see our mysteries. .....So it be Ardane that no one may tell any not of the Craft who be of the Wica. nor give any names, or where they Byde, or in any way tell anything which can betray any to our foes. Nor may they tell where the Covenstead be. or where is the Covendom. or where be the meetings. or that there have been meetings. And if any break these laws, even under torture, The Curse of the Goddess shall be upon them, so they never be reborn on earth, And may the remain where they belong, in the Hell of the Christians.

Now I'm speaking as a seeker here. Upon seeing this quote, I now understand why what is written can not be Wiccan. There are no mysteries, and the author would have been condemed to hell had they broken any of their oaths. So, can it be said that Wiccans do indeed believe in the Christian hell, and there for maybe even the entity known as Satan?

The flaw would be in asserting that Satan would have any connection to Hell.

Fair enough. I was just going by what I grew up on.
Nice job, very informative. I was all ready to be angry that yet another person had no clue about this topic, and to my surprise you actually have a wonderfull thread about it smile .
Very nice thread. I've referenced it countless times, heh.

Just like to add a little something I found that kind of puts stuff into perspective for some people. (Made a bit of sense to me, anyway.)

Quote:
Wicca is an initiatory religion. Purists insist that Wicca therefore cannot be practiced by eclectics. That’s fine; I have no argument. But there are many who practice something they like to call “Wicca.”
(Source)

Obviously, I'd say, the ones that do are misrepresenting themselves, but it should be taken into consideration that the people who call themselves Wiccan and aren't really Wiccan, many times practice a religion that doesn't actually have a name, beyond the over-title of pagan. They're not correct, it's just the closest thing they can think of. (Kind of like how I called myself an atheist before I knew what "agnostic" meant.)

/fairly pointless rambling
Thankee for reading.

Actually- they are Eclectic Neo-Pagans.

Or heck- they could even suggest they are X-Inspired Neo-Pagans, or maybe even generate their own name, or perhaps they practice a personal witchcult tradition, or even ~Insert their Name-y-ism~.

The issue stems from when they are informed they are misrepresenting themselves and insist on perpetuating misinformation and willful ignorance in the form of self aggrandizing petulant entitlement- they do those who paid with pain, sweat, blood and tears for their right to be called a Priestess and a Witch of the Wica.

lets hope that some people do learn though. I did. You prolly dont remember from about 2 years ago. (sorry for that if you do). Sometimes people need a hard whack and reality check to learn. I am hopeful that people can learn the truth.

me! i am proof. Tea and i had a pretty heated debate about 2 years ago. and since then ive moved from NJ to MD and have cleared my thoughts. seeing as i used the term "Wiccan" improperly. I had to learn slightly the hard way what i truly was trying to say. I have learned that what i meant was i had some outer court influences, stuff you can find in books but i understand that those are in no way good resources. Since then i use the term "Pagan" because i am influenced by other pagan religions as well. I am not going to label myself as one specific pagan religion till i have found what I have been looking for. I do sometimes but rarely practice magic. But as to how i do that i have developed my own methods, learning from books and others friends, not just on here but from friends i had back when i lived in NJ who did practice magic. So sometimes it does actually work, i have hope that you can actually teach someone.
