Wow. 4 out of 8 people are christian... at least until people really start to vote wink

Well, if past experience is any indication: By the time we hit around 80 votes, there should be 25-30 for the secular/agnostic and an even tie between Christianity and Paganism at about 17-18 votes apiece. The others will have mixed results.

It seemed from your last poll, that indeed christianity and neo-paganism were tied. Very interesting - one group finding their strength from an all-powerful creator, and the other from within themselves (I'm making an assumption, as I don't know everything about neo-paganism, and I'm sure that like all other religions, every member believes a little differently).

Well, it's especially interesting because statistically speaking Neo-Paganism is one of the weakest religions on the block. Their numbers don't exceed 1 million by much, making them a tiny portion of the world-wide population. Yet, here we have a host of them.

I guess that it seems pretty popular among the younger crouds. So perhaps this is why it has so much representation here, but not so much on the aforementioned website. Perhaps they were just polling "adults"?

Well, I may not, necessarily. As a Gnostic, I can put myself in Christianity, Spiritism (New Age belief), Neo Paganism, or Other. But which one?

Just a Christian. ^_^ I wonder how this poll will work out compared to national surveys and what it says about us.
I think that, honestly, there would be many more Christians here if only a disturbing amount of Christians weren't of the "churchianity" variety, just blindly listening to what their pastors say instead of seeking to learn more about their faith for themselves...
Seriously, it's like they must not even read the Bible in their own spare time, because if they did, I would hope they'd see just how little they're truly following it...

But, um, okay, enough ranting from me. sweatdrop Thread wasn't intended for this... sweatdrop

I'm Gnostic. I put myself under Christianity. *Shrugs* Whichever one you feel your beliefs are closest to I guess. 3nodding

True. And since your Gnosticism is mixed with Kabbalah and a touch of Zoroastrianism, then mine would, despite its Hermeticism mixed with Platonic and Jungian philosophy, have no excuse not to call itself Christian. Christianity, it is. whee

This is for you. It'd be healthy to have another Gnostic so Valentinian/Jungians aren't the only ones soaking up Gaia's Gnostic spotlight. wink

Actually I admire and compare with Valentinian/Jungian Gnosticism. I'll check out that link you posted.

I love being a godless commie b*****d... as apposed to a godless christian b*****d....

I heard something funny from Russel Bertrand. "When one are called a godless atheist, one must dissect the statement into two parts. First you are godless, which is true because due to the fact there is no god, we are all godless. Second you are an athiest, which means you have the good sense to recognize there is no god."

I'm an empirical/weak agnostic.

Atheistic or theistic - depends on when you ask me. wink

Science is not about building a body of known "facts." It is a method for asking awkward questions and subjecting them to a reality-check, thus avoiding the human tendency to believe whatever makes us feel good.
