Forgiveness. This is the third on this page. Let my other one, Complete List of Religions, die. I reincarnated that from page 4, and frankly it was a bad poll to begin with because I was still learning the polling system. Judaism was cut out and I have another slot there to fill. So, I'm trying this again.

The Poll choices are taken directly from this site: http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html

Ordering is based upon worldwide size of group. Agnostics are roped in with athiest and secular groups largely because statistically this is how Adherents did this. As agnosticism as a group does not hold a specific religious belief, I think that this is fairly accurate.

I'm hoping that the moderators either a) Sticky this, or b) use this as a model to create a sticky poll of similar style in this forum. It would be appropriate for us.

While I acknowledge that athiesm itself is not a belief system, I am referring to it as one for the conveniences of this poll. It's a heuristic, I know, but please bear with me.

And, Catholicism is a Christian religion, so it gets lumped in with the other Christian faiths. One vote for one overall religion. Feel free to debate with me over its Christianity. I love dragging out my history texts repeatedly.

We'll leave the argument of Mormonism's status out of this. Vote Christian or Other as you please, those of you from the LDS church.

For questions of "Why was my faith left out?" There are 10 options in a standard poll. I am limited in my choices available. I chose those that would hopefully garner votes in Gaia. I included several cases from the adherents site that are present in the Other category. However, there are likely belief systems with less than 150,000 believers. The proponents of these, and the "Other" faiths listed above, should feel free to declare their allegiance proudly here. Sorry I have so few options available. Hey, at least I squished Indiginous together so we didn't have three or more subests there.

Oh good. Someone loves me. The old one was removed. I really shouldn't have reincarnated it in the first place. It was back on page four for crying out loud.

Sorry to make you all vote again. I'm a stickler for precision sometimes.

Well, if past experience is any indication: By the time we hit around 80 votes, there should be 25-30 for the secular/agnostic and an even tie between Christianity and Paganism at about 17-18 votes apiece. The others will have mixed results.

It seemed from your last poll, that indeed christianity and neo-paganism were tied. Very interesting - one group finding their strength from an all-powerful creator, and the other from within themselves (I'm making an assumption, as I don't know everything about neo-paganism, and I'm sure that like all other religions, every member believes a little differently).

Well, it's especially interesting because statistically speaking Neo-Paganism is one of the weakest religions on the block. Their numbers don't exceed 1 million by much, making them a tiny portion of the world-wide population. Yet, here we have a host of them.

You are to be commended, shibi, on creating an intelligent, and acceptably comprehensive poll on a commonly unintelligent topic.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised that if it gets stickied long enough or stays up long enough you might find two or three more. Considering how many Hindu there are worldwide, I'm slightly surprised at how few frequent here.

They're rare, though not nearly as rare as the modern proponents of the old Nordic religion. Starts with an A, but I can never remember what it is. I have a friend who's one too.
