Oh, for the topic. "God" helped me open my eyes to the world around me and to not be so philosophical when the time calls for judgement.
and by god you mean shrooms?

What has god done for me?

Nothing, i dont think that there is a god. Im the type of person that likes to see the scientific evidence before i will admit that there is a god. Im willing to admit that im wrong when god decides to come down and show himself to me.

Now you could say that im being selfish, will i am. Its just the way i am.

...that you could not do for yourself?

It's a pretty simple question that could spawn very detailed answers and point of views.

I grew up Episcopal, but a few years ago I really started to question my religion, and all others for that matter. (Mine being Christianity, because Episcopalians are just a man-made sect of)
And I started to notice a redundance in teachings, which was pretty much the standard golden rule taught by parents. Treat others as you would like to be treated. And so that's how I go through my life. I dont go to church, I dont believe in God. And yet I can still go through my day feeling good about myself and feeling that others feel good about me. So am I missing something, can God do something for me that I alone or with the support of my friends and family cannot do?

I'm sure the quick answer would be salvation, but what do I need to be saved from? I'm pretty sure I'm not in any harm or danger, unless people have malicious intents to do me harm.

Another one would be going to heaven. Well, there are far too many religions, and far too many different types of afterlife beliefs, that it could be concluded that anyone of those for which you believe it to be are true or false. Besides, prove it.

And while I'm not looking to blow anyones mind, really you could ask the question about yourself too, and perhaps find that you too, don't need a God, or a religion. Both of which, are ideas anyway.

God has given me a family that give me enough love everyday

1. if god exists and you live like he exists you win heaven
2. if god exists and you live like he doesnt exist you lose heaven
3. if god doesnt exist and you live like he exists you lose nothing

Gamelon's Theory
1. If Goddess exists and you live like God exists she eats your soul.
2. If Goddess exists and you live like God doesn't you win eternal bliss.
3. If Goddess does not exist and you live like God doesn't you lose nothing.

You might as well make any random guess as to what will happen to you after you die. Pascal's Wager sucks.

I have heard such protestations
Every day for twenty years
Let's have no more explanations
Save your breath and save your tears
My goddess came to my house and made me dinner, then we danced.

What? your god doesn't do that? I feel sorry for you.

what has God done for me? well my brother was in the hospital about 3 years ago he was 25 he weighed 520 pounds and had congestive heart failure he was there for three weeks everyone told him he was going to die well one day my grandmother got him a bible and he prayed and let his bible fall open and it fell open to Isaiah 40:28-31 which says

28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

in two weeks my brother lost 110 pounds his heart shrank and he was cured of congestive heart failure since then he and i got back into church and were baptized and now he is a preacher

when i became a Christian my mother told me that she was diagnosed with lung cancer and as she told me that we passed a church sign and it said Isaiah 12:2 well i looked it up and it said

2Behold, God is my salvation;I WILL TRUST AND NOT BE AFRAID: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

well i would pray for her and every time i would pray i would cry because i was so afraid of losing her well one service before she went to go get more tests done i was anointed for her because it says to do so in the 5th chapter of the book of James well the tests came back early and they couldn't find any sign of cancer i need my God

That's a really wonderful story. I too have experiences like that, but I'd rather share them with people who could understand than publicly.

2 Thessalonians 1:16-17, "May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word."

To Him be all the praises and glory, now and forever! Amen!

Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
