Neophenx de Chrysalya
Why would God create me with free will, a lust for sex and a desire to prove myself and strive to be competitive against others, but then tell me that using these things are bad unless I do them in a very specific way, and if God has a plan for me then does that not undermine my free will?
When God created mankind, it was good. It was because of free will that man decided to attempt becoming equal to God, even though it meant disobedience. Just because we have a desire does not mean that this desire is FROM God, because of that seeded rejection and pride in our own hearts. As God created us with some purpose in mind, it's still fully on our own decision whether we'll accept a plan from something/one who understands the world a lot more than we could ever hope to, or just struggle on our own.
Also, if God is in all times and all places at once, and therefore knows everything that will happen in the future. Then why would he create so many people knowing full well that they would spend an eternity burning in hell, does that not seem like an absolutely evil thing to do? and before anyone says that God would create me because he would have to if thats how time would unfold. Isnt this guy supposed to be able to do ANYTHING? and if so, why not just create us in heaven?
Even though many will be lost, many will still be saved. Consider this scenario: If you are a benevolent king and there's an uprising to overthrow your throne, do you get rid of only the usurpers, or wipe out everyone in your kingdom because of a small rebellion? And creating us in heaven to begin with kind of negates the "free will" concept, don't you think?
Perhaps I worded them badly but because they are never answered in a way I can accept i cannot accept the bible as the ultimate truth.
Also on a final note I am not asking these to be a d**k, I am genuinely seeking some answers and am open to debate on them.
First thing's first: Don't approach your pursuit of truth as a debate. In debate, you'll always be clouded by your own pride. If you want to find truth, start by assuming that everything YOU believe MIGHT be wrong and don't argue or justify it. Next, crack open a Bible and read it for yourself. Yes, there's a lot of controversial stuff there. The flood, the plagues, etc. As you read it though, cross reference. Look at what God had done and what NOT doing it could have meant. Try asking actual AUTHORITIES on the subject about things you don't understand. Talk to pastors and church leaders, instead of going to an internet source that's likely full of angsty teens.
On top of all this, pray about it. Ask God Himself to guide you to the truth. Jesus used the story of the Prodigal Son as an image of what happens when one of God's creations seeks Him out. Lastly, try applying some of the teachings and see just what applying the word does in your life. Excellent books to start with are Proverbs or Psalms, or any of the four Gospels of the New Testament. Trust me, reading Genesis to Revelation feels more like a chore than a journey for someone just seeking God.
All in all, you're going to find truth by going outside of your own argumentative attitude and trying new things, not by debating them on the internet.

one thing i've learned over time if you're just helping someone who is wanting to look into things wait awhile before looking into the old testament i was raised in a very christian home and it still confuses me. (i love the book of ruth though and the story of Job)
