ShadowCatSoul washu_2004 ShadowCatSoul washu_2004 scorplett Jeorg But the essence of Wicca does not control its followers. There are, in fact, those who do not even know the Wiccan Rede [An' it harm none, do what thee will. Blessed Be to thee.] but still claim to be of the religion. Wicca itself may prevent this, but followers forego it easily. The essence of Wicca does control who is, and who is not Wiccan. It does control it's initiates to a degree, mostly with regard to the initiatory oaths and the requirement from those oaths to practice Wicca properly and preserve it as handed down from initiator to initiate etc. You've also gotten the rede wrong. You've also neglected to understand that it is not a fundamental concept of Wicca. Lots of people claim to be Wiccan, most of them are not. Only initiates with valid initiatory lineage traceable to Gardner and who maintain and practice the core orthopraxy are Wiccan. Most 'followers' of Wicca are not Wiccan, but misguided, idiots, fluffies or liars. This is the official Gardnerian stance, only Gardnerians are Wiccans. Source: http://www.geraldgardner.com And Alexandrians are Wiccan If they can trace their initiatory linage to Gerald Gardner then yes they are. (According to the Gardnerian teachings on who is and who is not Wiccan) And as far as I have been able to ascertain the Alexandrian tradition is either an offshoot of the Gardnerian tradition or heavily based off the same. Alexander was an initiate under Gardner from what I've been told and went off to start his own. That's why they're also Wica Considering Gardner and Alexander were both men and initiation is male>female/female>male, no. Alexander, however, was an initiate of a woman who was an initiate of Gardner, if I recall correctly, can't remember her name off the top of my head though. |
