Welcome to Gaia! ::

To place it really simple. If you are not married to the guy and you are having sex...you are fornicating. Than you could be looked as a whore cause of it, which you don't want. Its a form of commitment really is how I look at it, plus you are saving something that is really special to you for the poor p***k who takes it.

If I'm a fornicating whore to some people because I had/have sex, then so be it.... Deciding what one does for themselves based on gaining popularity or approval from an outside party is not a functional or healthy way to lead life. Be it to have sex, or not have sex.

Using peer pressure and names to stigmatize having sex by using names like whore and fornicator is just as bad as those on the opposite end of the spectrum who use names like prude and tease to stigmatize those who don't have sex. Other than having different beliefs on the same issue, really, those two types of people are exactly the same... Trying to scare people and label people and pressure them to do things that may or may not be in their best interests.
I think premarital sex is considered a sin because sex is not just pleasure, but an expression of unity between two people, and the greatest intimacy and trust imaginable. You can't give over your soul to another - not this directly - so you give your body. When you have sex before marriage, you betray your future partner and break this unity before it even happens.
I don't think it's a sin, but then again I've rejected most of the Bible....
I don't think there is anything wrong with premarital sex. It is in our animal nature to have sex, and if you truly love the person, you can. If you just have sex for sex, I think thats wrong. I am Wiccan, and in my beliefs, there is nothing wrong with sex before marriage, sex helps the species grow biggrin

The bible has so many contridictions and alot of hypocrisy, rejected christianity.
I personnally wouldn't do it, but I think there is nothing wrong with it.
Marriage is just a piece of paper.

Sex isn't always a great bond between two people. Some people can have sex and not bond to eachother at all. I know I have been in situations like that.

And to say that having sex before marraige breaks the unity between you and your furture spouse is absurd. When you have sex with someone you love, because you love them, sex isn't what binds you too eachother, love is. When you love that person, you are connected to them no matter how many other people you've slept with.

OK, folks- you can argue whether premarital sex is moral or not, you can argue if it should be legal or not, you can throw as many statistics out there as you like- the question posed by the OP was whether or not premarital sex was a SIN, something forbidden by GOD. I've seen little mention of this on this thread. Make a new, GENERAL "Premarital Sex (good or bad)?" thread or else turn the conversation back to the OP's question. If you don't believe in God, then don't respond- it only makes since that you'd disagree with something you didn't believe in. rolleyes

I like that idea. I'm good at M&R debates but I'm weak at Political debates. I'm far too opinionated and don't have enough to support myself. This thread has turned into a political debate, so backing up to the original topic might help me a bit. Sounds like I've ticked a few people off with my opinions.

There are a lot of things in our instictual "animal nature" that are sins. I might argue that all sins are the results of a person's "animal nature" controlling them, rather than people controlling their instincts and "animal natures".

So you believe God would make something a natural drive, an instinct, in a person, then turn around and say if you act on that God-given instinct, you're sinning? I find that really sad.

Sounds like God is a tease. Sorry, but after your wonderful post about people using labels to surpress each other, I had to make a joke of approval. :invisawhee:
Sounds like God sets humanity up to fail.
I don't believe in Him, but for the purposes of this post I'll assume he exists.

Has God ever had sex, or a lifelong sexual/romantic partner, hmm?
I, personally, see nothing wrong with premarital sex. At all.

Sex is something that can be both lots of fun and meaningful. I, also, have nothing against people that have sex with other people just for the fun of it. Heck, if they want to...

So what you are saying is that there is no sin and all of us can just do whatever we want? If that were the case we would all be running around raping each other. I find that to be really sad. God gives us all weaknesses. No one has the same weaknesses, and God will never allow Satan to tempt us beyond that which we are able to bare.
