Welcome to Gaia's forums, where millions of members gather to discuss random stuff, make new friends,
complain about life, argue about nothing, laugh at dumb pictures, discuss serious issues and/or curse like sailors.

Lurking is creepy. Quit skulking in the shadows and join the conversation!

Yeah, if you want to handle the evolution/creation thing in here, there's www.carm.org www.answersingenesis.org www.icr.org
and of course www.talkorigins.org

(Yeah, three creationist sites... but I think TO more than cancels them out.)

I'm back.

Maybe.
Okay, got a bunch of stuff in there, and I'll add the rest later. Must go make tea now.

this is for the occult studies in general really; it's another forum, but everybody there is very much into getting people straight on the facts and rules of whatever particular branch of the occult you wish to discuss...(note, they do not appreciate anyone posting any fundies-attitude-oriented crap that denounces a said faith or practice, so steer very clear of that)

I think ReligiousTolerance should be split into different categories because bloody hell, sometimes you can search for something on there for a long time and not find it. Call me stupid, but I couldn't even find a list of the 7 Deadly Sins on there...

I have found these sites to be really good for info and more links.
http://about.com/religion/
http://paganwiccan.about.com/
http://altreligion.about.com/

There are so many good sites out there on every religion that is is not funny at all. Thanks for the great links. wink One can never have too many.

I think the creationism should go in the contraversial/rubbish section, to be perfectly honest. Though I suppose it has its own subheading.

I feel I should help out here, so, on with the sites for Christians.

Life on the Edge

The Way of the Master

Harvest Online

Gotcha. I'm sick of seeing these "Can someone give me a link to a site on x" threads. Not only are they violating the blatantly clear annoucement, but they're repetitive and aren't discussions.

So we're going to try and fix this. Now you may ask "How nora? How will we fix this?" Well pull up a chair and listen to auntie nora.

We're going to make a _non-gaia_ link list. This sticky will be a place for us to post resources to all sorts of different websites relating to religious matters, so that people don't have to make threads asking for them (although they probably will anyway).

So this is how it works. You post links here. I go check out those links, and if the site seems sound (by sound I mean as accurate to the spirit of the subject it professes to discuss as I can determine, not unbiased or impartial!) I will post it here for everyone else who comes here to find and click on and go to.

Voila.

Now to start, a few suggested topics:

General Religion/Morality/Philosophy

ReligiousTolerance.org

Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy

Sacred Texts

Wikipedia

Christianity

(yes, we can subdivide by denomination if needed)

Bible Gateway

Catholic Encyclopedia

Pagan

The Celtic Connection

Asatru

Ravenbok

Hellenic Paganism

Hands-On Hellenism

Temenos Theon

Celtic Paganism

shee-eire

Wicca and Witchcraft (yes, I know they're not the same)

Wicca:For the Rest of Us

Why Wiccans Suck

The Witches Voice

Celtic Crow

Judaism

Mechon Mamre

Buddhism

Common Topics

Homosexuality

Abortion

Evolution

Talk Origins

Creationism

Answers in Genesis

Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry

Institute for Creation Research

Feel free to suggest topics/changes to topics. For example, I'm seperating wicca from paganism even though I believe wicca can go under paganism, simply because the need seems to be strong for a specific section that says "For Wicca, GO HERE".

And post links! I'll be checking this everyday to update it for the first few days.

Cool! Thanks, Noraboo.

I got noosy religious studying to do... I'm such a nerd. LOL xd xp

Shouldn't there be a fluff-list so people know what to avoid also?

I don't have a website, yet, but reading "The Encyclopedia of Ancient and Forbidden Knowledge" by Zolar is a nice way to learn up on a different religion. I'll edit this when I find some good sites that haven't been listed.
