Life after death? What life?

Life after death is very conceptual with very many ideals- as for myself I believe in " From the Earth we come, and to it we later return."

I always had this sneaking suspicion that the idea of life after death is just another term for the superego, that is, a collective consciousness. I lost my own fear of death through something like an acceptance of the superego, and something that I like to think of as a sort of miniature ego death. When "I" die, that's simply one instance of humanity, completing its long march towards the yawning grave. My fear of death is a product of my ego, which is itself a rather illusory construction in the first place. I do my best to try to fear death only in the context of contemplating its negative impact on those I love.

I believe that your spirit lives on after your body is dead. That would be your personality and memories and temperament, etc. That's just short term. Later on (Christ's second coming) you are resurrected, and then you have your body again (except that it's immortal. Don't know exactly how that works.)

from what ive heard from other ppl who died longer thn I have or had longer visions, id say tht there is a life. but I only got as far as going into the dark and nothing more.

If reincarnation is true, than a new self would not be a whole new being, but rather a like quilt made up of bits of the previous selves fit together in a new pattern. While it is different from any of the originals you can recognize the individual pieces and identify where they came from. Just as the body will chage through the course of it's life through growth and external impact, so the spirit will gorw and chage based upon it's experiences through many lifetimes. In one lifetime we are the sum whole of our experiences. In many we are the sum whole of those experiences. That is the part that goes on.
