This is coming from a Valintinian Gnostic Christian (a very ancient sect of Christianity dating back to ancient egypt), I cannot truly say it is a sin.

I believe that masturbation is needed by some. The reason I believe that God said that lusting was a sin was to prevent rape or unwilling sex. Therefore masturbation would allow a release from sexual tension or desire towards the opposite sex, sometimes for a very long period of time (anyone who has every masturbated should know this).

Sexuality is a completely normal human trait, classified by the need for polarity within human life, Without both the male and female part of the spirit, it is impossible to return to God, thus, sexual activity is symbolic of the agent with which we must use to return to the Lord.

What God did not intend for us to do is to become attached to the sexual activity (or to be addicted to anything for that matter), because to do this is to profess attachment to the physical world (Malkuth in qabalah) and its pleasures.

To say that it is wrong to masturbate or watch hentai would be to say that it is wrong to have sex for pleasure during marriage. For one the people are not real (aside from the voices, which are just people acting the parts), and for two saying that waching hentai is a sin is the same as saying that seeing a nude painting by DaVinci is a sin, it's simply art.

Thats just my two cents from an extremely religious, yet non-catholic or conservative view.

And one more thing, this may pose as offensive to some, however Jesus was an enjoyer of pleasure himself. He was criticized one time for getting a sensual foot massage from a beautiful woman. Tell me it wasnt even a little bit sexual.

When they say that Jesus lived a sinless life they mean that his spiritual body was sinless. It is impossible for a human to go through life sinlessly. An example of a sin he committed was a time when he went off to preach a sermon opposing his mothers command to him.

That would apply to lusting after *MARRIED* Real Women. Also, if you yourself are Married, and it's another real woman who is not even married that you're lusting over, it would also fall under that as well.

I don't see how fictional drawings of fictional women (many of whom are not even married women in the hentai doujinshis, although some of them are, but are fictional characters regardless) would fall under that verse.
