Making our will to be supreme is the highest idolatry. It is the adversary to all that the Lord Intends for mankind. It is satan.
There is no other satan, but ourselves.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Your beliefs are horrible. cry

Her signature pisses me off too, aside from seeing her take a part of the Genesis story and warp it so badly it's mindnumbing to read.

So what I got from this is that our free will is evil and we must be mind numb zombies to be pleasing to God?

Job 1:6-9,12
[ Job's First Test ] One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it." Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."" Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied.

The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

Job 2:1-2,4,6-7
[ Job's Second Test ] On another day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them to present himself before him. And the LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

"Skin for skin!" Satan replied. "A man will give all he has for his own life.

The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life."
So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.

Zechariah 3:2
The LORD said to Satan, "The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?"

Matthew 4:10
Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' "

Acts 5:3

Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?

Acts 26:18
to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

Mark 4:15
[Parable of the Sower]Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.

1 Corinthians 5:5
hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 7:5
Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

2 Corinthians 2:11
in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

2 Corinthians 11:14
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

2 Thessalonians 2:9
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders,

1 Thessalonians 2:18
For we wanted to come to you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again—but Satan stopped us.

Revelation 12:9
The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
/sigh.
Seriously, this isn't a ground breaking topic. Do you have any idea how often this question is asked?
God wrote all the books. Ol' Beelzebub never got his fair say in what was going on. Like any event the winner writes the history books so it's only natural the Prince of Darkness is portrayed as absolute evil. Really, if Satan was so evil that he would destroy the world, he would have done it ages ago.

Furthermore, if you were all powerful, why would you rule subterranean sauna with no climate control and walk around with shaggy goat legs?
satan ofcourse... end
Satan seems like the classic underdog. And who doesn't love the ultimate anti-hero?

Of course, there isn't really just one devil in the bible.
Hmm...well according to my idealogy I find neither to be evil. After all what does Satan do? he punishes. He and God are like old friends who enjoy betting and things like that, they like to prove to each other that their points are wrong but they do their duties. Satan or Lucifer whichever you may prefer is an angel and he believed that humanity should receive harsher punishment or something like that and God did not. We would probably perceive god as the evil one if he were to be the one to hand out our eternal punishment for our nefarious deeds, but since it is Satan we choose to make him the evil one. Of course it helps that Satan's face seems to change over the centuries to be whoever the current enemy of Christianity is.

I read a report my friend Joey sent me and it made me ponder. After pouring over the Bible all night, I have come to see that maybe the author of the report maybe right.

Many faiths paint God has a powerful loving God always looking out for the well being of Man while the Satan is Man's destoyer and corruption and that all evil in the world exist because of him.

In the Book of Genesis, The Serpeant (Satan) tricked Eve into eating the fruit, making Mankind aware of itself, and if not for God keeping Adam and Eve ignorant of the punishments that would befall us. In truth, from what I read, God made no effort to teach us, we were his sheperds of the animals. While God made us ignorant, the Satan made us aware, strange how its seems evil helped us further then good.

The essay I read had a good point, in Genesis, there are actually two LORDs, the Lord God who created, and the Lord who helped Mankind after its banishment of Paradise. The faiths say this is God who protected Cain after he killed Abel(which, as the report says, he didn't kill Abel but rather out ranked him) but if you read later on, God called for the sacrifice of the first born, slaying of the people of Canaan, the destruction of His city of Jerusalem, the plagues of the Revelations, total obedience of Mankind or face total judgement.

Its interesting how God is said to be a merciful God yet He shows no restraint in our judgement.

It is said tha Lucifer fell do to his ambition and could rival God's power, rival even the power of the Creator, and that with his power, he plans to destroy mankind. Yet as I read the bible fully, its God that gets to destroying Mankind.

Ironic?

The entire Old Testament is full of bloodshed, and not once in all of it, is it caused by the Devil.

The book of Job, which I have opened to as I write this, is about a pure upright God worshipping who is tested by plague, horror, and pain.

"On day, the Angels came present to present themselves before the LORD and Satan also came with them."

First, if Lucifer is the Satan, who was supposably banished down to hell, why can he come foreword and talk to God? In truth, in alot of faiths and their mono faith in one God, Lucifer is the equal of God (Good and Evil, two halves to make a perfect sphere), yet he was called to be an angel, in which God is also said to be an angel as he wrestled Jacob and many other presences before Man.

All religions are very closly tied together just time and Human nature calling each a different name or lowering on god below another (A God becomes an Angel, an Angel becomes a Nephilim, etc).

Look at Noah and the flood, God wishes to destroy mankind yet tells Noah of the flood and tells him to prepare an ark. In Babylonian myth, One God went to destroy the world with a flood, another told a single man of it and prepare a vessel for the animals and his family.

Another interesting twist is again back in Genesis, that in Adam's family tree in chapter 5, Cain is not listed. Is it because Cain was a murderer and he was exempt from the Family Tree?

Actually, it is said that Eve was helped to conceived to have a child by the Lord, who is said to be none other the Satan, protector of Cain who was the first born, and who was not Adam's child.

Interesting, that the first offspring of Mankind, was actually supposably from Evil. If you believe in the marriage of Jesus and Mary and their child, imagine passing a descendent of Satan on the street.

The Book of Revelations is an interesting concept, Man is granted peace by a sole man(The antichrist) yet God seeks to judge the world with pestilence and death. If the Antichrist is suppose evil, why does he bring peace to the world and it is the God that destroys it?

So blind is the truth.

I am no Satanist but neither am I a God worshiping faithist, I serve neither one, I am a Humanist and follow the teachings of Man, I am, like many others, a hunter for Truth.

Much thanks to Joey for this.

well, back then there was so much crime going on, the world was going down hill, God told noah about his plan, and told him to get ready for it. noah even told the people about what was going to happen, and they still ignored him. if that 1 god wanted to kill ALL of mankind he would of found some way to sink the ark, BUT didnt.
Then after the flood, god sent a rainbow as a promise to never do that again.
even if there was 2 gods, that one must not be that bad to make a promise like that huh?

I bolded the evidence that you did not look closely into the Gospel, Acts, or any of the books Paul wrote.

Yes, God does do the plagues in Revelations, but look at the end: a enternal peace after it's all over! Satan will be thrown into the "second death", which will have "weeping and gnashing of teeth".

I understand your desire for truth, but I see where you went wrong! If I offend you, I'm very sorry, but no person should let something like this go unspoken of.

this is why i hate atheists they always find loopholes to attack religion, they want to destroy religion and search for stuff that supports it, they fail to see the truth behind the Bible and the more than a thousand reasons why it`s amazing.
