When I was Christian I learned some pretty critical parts of the religion. One of which eliminates any worry about any sin, ever.
All sins are equal therefore asking for forgiveness of them is just as easy, regardless of the sin. Yes, some sins are considered 'deadly,' but that's just another way to say 'really really frowned upon.'
Also, somewhere in the bible it says 'if a man lays with another man as he does a woman then he shall be put do death.' It does not say 'this is the one unforgivable sin that you can't fix.' So if you are gay, and worried about going to 'hell', ask for forgiveness from 'god' for he will forgive you. If you're really that worried about going to 'hell,' ask for forgiveness every time you have sex since that is the same context the bible puts it.
IMO: The idea of an eternal resting or burning place is a primitive idea. In a 'hell' you would go just as insane as you would in a 'heaven.' Gods, demons, devils, and angels alike are all manifestations that we as humans have created to give us a feeling of 'eternity' after death. And, again, in my opinion, the 'eternities' we think of in religions are all askew. In such a vast universe and everyone thinks we get locked up in 'heaven' never to leave, never to have another challenge. It sounds awful!
