For those of you who believe in evolution, how does it explain gravity? The theory of relativity? The planets? The solar system? Oh and this time guys...try putting references in your replies...no references, no replies.

Evolution has nothing to do with this stuff. At all.

The theory of evolution is a theory on evolution.
( wikipedia article here, which has plenty of information for the uninformed, including plenty (but nowhere near all of the possible) citations. )

Newton's law of gravity is a different scientific principle, and has nothing to do with evolution.
( Newton's wiki here, and basic info on the law of gravity here. )

The "theory of relativity" is a principle of physics, and has nothing to do with evolution.
( wiki here. )

The planets and the solar system are not part of the evolutionary theory. The formation of the planets and the solar system is present in things like the Big Bang Theory (which has millions of evidenced images and videos that have been compiled through observation of other solar systems.)
( wiki on big bang theory here. Planet formation info here. )

The evolutionary theory and the big bang theory are the only ones that argue divine creation/intelligent design. There is no evidence of intelligent design or divine creation. There is GENERATIONS upon GENERATIONS of evidence supporting our knowledge of the formation of planets, gravity, the solar system, the principle of relativity, et cetera.

Topic finished. Stay in school, kids.

So these things that man is so dependent on has no origin in evolution? These just exist? Oh a wikiopedia is not reliable, too many hands in the cookie jar.
Evolution explains how living things develop over time. It has no bearing on nonliving things like gravity and the planets.

Creationists really are getting dumber, aren't they?

Are they alive? Do they reproduce? Do they possess heritable traits and are they subject to random mutation? No? Then why the hell would evolution come into the picture?

No, they have separate theories of their own to explain them, and their effects. Try paying a bit more attention in science class.

Odd...Its just as accurate as any other encyclopedia, including Britanica...

Aside from peripherally being responsible for man's ability to reason out the tests and proofs for said other theorums and principles, no, evolution is not connected to them at all. Not responsible for gravity, not responsible for planetary formation, not responsible for physics. No, no and no.

See Nattfodd's post for more info here, it's a good jump point fer the learnin'. 3nodding

The wikipedia articles I cited are reliable to give you a basic understanding of the theories. You can check the credibility of a Wikipedia article just like any other Encyclopedia -- by checking the sources. They are referenced at the bottom of the page.

"Too many hands in the cookie jar" may be a problem when it comes to editing a wikipedia entry about which Dragonball Z character has a higher power level, but when it comes to scientific theories, people actually take time to put real research and citations for everyone to see.

I don't understand what you're getting at. Those things have an effect on evolution - everything effects everything to some degree - but none of those things has anything to do with Evolutionary Biology or even the field of Biology in general. They are completely different aspects of science.
All of these things are needed for the so-called "evolution" to occur. If no gravity, we dont exist. If no sun we dont exist. If the Earth wasnt exactally where it is in the solar system we dont exist. I'm not getting into how these all came to be, thats not my question. How does evolution work without any of these? Oh and this is my faulty thinking for this thread, my wording probably sucked, but it was in a semi-logical, sleep-deprived, stressed out mind I came up with it.

Actually, there's a range in which a planet's orbit can sit and still be habitable for Terran-like lifeforms, and it varies depending on the type of star around which the planet orbits. It's called the habitable zone (along with a few other possible names), and it's a function of how far from the sun the planet could be and still have liquid water. Earth could be closer to the sun or further from the sun and still be inside that zone.

However, that doesn't mean that life can't develop outside that range - it just means that the life wouldn't develop with the same type of characteristics we have on Earth.

Tlara
How does evolution work without any of these?

Please understand, that's kind of like asking, "How does human gestation work if no conception occurred?"

It's a meaningless question.

We don't, but life may or may not still come to be under such circumstances. We aren't special, and the universe doesn't exist to cater to us; it would still continue to exist if life on our insignificant little ball of rock never came to be.

The laws of physics do not predict the laws of biology. Why is it so?

Reductionism is [******** hard. For example, you cannot use the quantum field theories that underpin particle interactions to describe thermodynamical systems. That is not to say that either is wrong, it is just that it gets so bloody complicated — you try to describe how entire systems of macroscopic objects behave using the mathematics of how individual electrons and quarks interact seeing as there are millions of them — that you forget about modeling it with reductionist terms and construct a more appropriate model that can be applied to the observed physics or, in your case, biology.

Each model is constructed to describe a different arena and can be independent of other models.
