Eh. Sure it is, but that also helps make it fun, because if you understand Pokemon (or any of the other dozens of ripoffs) you can pick it up and play, and the only major requirement is having Internet.

I think that, not only is that obvious, it is also intentional. And Monster Galaxy is free, technically. So, I'd say it's got that going for it, vis à vis Pokémon.

As for the 'topic'... Of course it is a shameless rip-off of Pokemon, but think about the situation:

Pokemon:
-Costs money to buy the system.
-Costs money to buy the game.
-Costs money to buy the next, almost identical game.
-Requires someone else to also buy the game to interact.
-Requires going out of your way to get any event Pokemon.
-Costs money.

Monster Galaxy:
-FREE Facebook game that is still enjoyable.
-Requires no money for a system or game.
-Has significantly higher-quality art and graphics.

Is Pokemon a better game? Of course, but for a game that looks this good on FACEBOOK? Well, this is easily the best thing Facebook ever got.

Why would you expect it to be better than this? You are comparing a game that costs money for a system, against a free application on a website.

I own several Pokemon games, and I still enjoy this significantly... other than the ridiculous capture rates and "Rest" feature.
