- You happened upon the shop by accident. It was small, crammed in between two other buildings, into a space she wouldn’t have thought wide enough to fit anything at all. The roof was crooked, slanting off in one direction while the battered sign swung in the other.
Through the windows she saw that the walls of the shop were covered entirely with shelves and that those shelves sat heavy with hundreds of bottles. The colors hit you, burning bright even through the smeared, cracked glass. Every rainbow shade imaginable and several more besides, hues you had no name for.
You stepped inside.
The room was dim, lit only by sunlight, but that just made the potions in the bottles shine all the more. They glimmered and shifted, some matte and others opalescent like pearl. Tags lined the shelves beneath the bottles, the parchment curled and yellowing, inscribed with a tiny careful hand. She stepped closer to read them when footsteps rang soft against the floor.
You jumped, spinning to face the woman that had ghosted in through the back door. She was tall and thin, clothed in a voluminous black dress that changed colors as she moved, like some of the potions in her bottles did. Her hair, a strange pale silver, shadowed her face.
“Welcome, traveler. See anything you like?”
