whee I'd actually wanted to learn French, but since I live in the US I felt Spanish would be slightly more applicable (since things are translated into Spanish...but never really French).

I still like English best though xd

I don't know...I don't really have much of an interest in foreign languages (though I do know Mandarin since both my parents are from Taiwan whee ). I just like...content and meaning I suppose?

I went to yum cha once
and they had these little buns
they were like pastry i think
but they looked like bread rolls
and they had sesame seeds on top
and inside it had really yummy sweet-ish stuff inside
and it was BRIGHT BRIGHT red, and not liquid or mushy, it was sortof like meat, but I'm not sure xD
I thought it might have been a pork bun, but I tried a few pork buns at other places and I hated them, they werent anything like the thing I liked D:

Seems most people think that. Makes sense. Taiwanese...Taiwan...

But yes they do speak Mandarin in China and they've also got many different dialects there (in different towns).
Same in Taiwan. A lot of people moved from China to Taiwan (I mean at some point) since China's huge and Taiwan's this really small island (that you can drive across in approx. 6 hours), hence they brought the language over. So in Taiwan's schools they teach Mandarin (also Taiwanese I'm sure...I'm assuming since I was never raised there). They teach English there too xd
But yeah, in Taiwan I think their main language is still Mandarin, but Taiwanese is popular too. Most people just know both, and sometimes another dialect that's native to their region/town.
Like my dad was born and raised in the capital city of Taiwan but he doesn't know Taiwanese.
Also people from China speak Mandarin with a heavier accent than those from Taiwan. Kinda like the English and Americans. Well it sounds heavier to me since English here is spoken all plain. Different...I guess would be the word.

I know there's Shanghainese cause my friend's parents are from that town (which is China's big city). And that's all I know. I've never been to China myself xd
