I hope to go this summer. I heard the beer is free.
Did i hear correctly? Btw, does any one know the complete line-up?
I've only know of a few bands so far...

Any metal festival would go bankrupt if they supplied everyone with free beer for three days. The stuff is rather expensive on the festival site. On the plus side, you get hard plastic cups with different Wacken logos at WOA which you can either return for a euro or keep as a souvenir.
(But if you're a security staff member at GMM, you do get a load of free drink coupons.)

@ Sign of the Cross: I walked to the supermarket in town three years ago, when there was a heat wave. It was the best walk ever, some friendly neighbours had put their lawn-watering systems close to the street so we could stand under them, we splashed around in the town fountain for a bit and then had icicles in the shade of the supermarket xd I got sunburned because of the water on my skin, but that didn't really bother me, 'twas just a fleshwound.

I've never been to any real festival as such, but i'm coming alll the way from Australia to go to Graspop with my boyfriend, who lives in Belgium. evil it better be good..

Graspop has the better lineup, but it's a lot smaller and doesn't have the fun atmosphere Wacken has.

Compared to what all non-Europeans are used to, it's gonna feel like heaven for you though.

Graspop is just getting pant-wettingly exciting. I REALLY hope I get some money in soon, I have to order my ticket.

And yeah Wacken is another festival...not that far from here either actually...it's bigger than graspop actually. The last years their line up was better than that of Graspop...but this year Graspop's line up is really going well.
