This is the metal forum. That means we discuss metal bands here. Now just what is a metal band? Well first off I suppose we should start off with what a metal band ISN'T.

Now what IS a metal band?

Well, I'm not that smart. I can't tell you - you'll just have to use your brain, a little sound judgment, and maybe some help from those of us who just know these kind of things.

So maybe this will help you:

A metal band will be any band that finds itself able to trace its existence through the evolution of the 'metal genre' from Black Sabbath onwards.

Here are some examples:

Black Sabbath ---& Judas Priest ---& Iron Maiden ---& Helloween

Black Sabbath ---& Judas Priest ---& Venom ---& Slayer ---& Bathory

Black Sabbath ---& Judas Priest ---& Venom ---& Slayer ---& Death

It works, it may be a little lack luster but just trust us.

"Sort of sparky. There are about three things you should know before you consider posting here:

1. Is this thread I want to make a repeat.

Look back a few days, if there is a thread about a certain topic that you want to discuss - just use it. We're a slow moving board generally, and because of such we don't look down upon necromancy as much as many other more active boards do.

2. Is this thread/post even on topic?

Please don't go into a thread and start posting inane babbling. It doesn't make you look cool - it doesn't make you look 'fun' or 'random' it just makes you look unintelligent. Stick to the topic at hand. And generally unless you can connect a non-metal band to being an influence in metal, keep non-metal bands out of the board.

3. Don't flame, don't troll, just follow the ToS

There is nothing worse than a little troll who thinks he is cool by stirring up problems by flaming and making others flame them. It isn't fun and it won't be tolerated. It causes grief for those of us who desire to have an enjoyable time on the boards.

Note: People do NOT flame or troll a troll/flamer back, simply report them to the moderation staff. They are more than capable of handling any problems that may arise. Failure to comply can result in your own discipline as you are as guilty as the perosn who started the situation."
