No mention of everybodys favorite Chicago doom metal band TROUBLE ?
They're definitely one of the orignal first bands that influenced a lot of the early stuff.

Anyhell, there are so many genres and labels these days ("mathmetal",come on people, what the hell?!), we should just simplify it all down to two terms: "I Like This" and "That crapola sucks!".
Tis what I do rofl

I don't know s**t about genres, but I always considered Children of Bodom to be considered melodeath, only because Pandora radio gave them to me when I typed in Mors Principium Est. I was a little unsure when I saw you say that they were power metal, but I took another listen to Sixpounder and now agree wholeheartedly.

I think that the many genres out there (for example "queercore" ) are ridiculous!!! But imagine calling Cannibal Corpse a rock or even an rhythm & blues group!! That would also be ridiculous!!! That's why certain genres exist... people need to stop complaining about genres.

Mr Abyss generated a random number between 665 and 667 ... 666!

Aren't you kind of complaining with that "What if...?", but yet you are somewhat agreeeing with me (in a not saying you disagree with my point, but still not endorsing it kinda way).
Hell, when I copy cds to my hard drive and play them back on the Windows Media player, bands like My Dying Bride and Draconian are "blues", and Cannible Corpse actually is "r&b" (Tomb of the Mutilated i think it was).
But truthfully, does it really matter what something is called, or just how it sounds to you, or any other individual in particular?
The only thing worse than all these genre names is some of these band names themselves though rofl
But that's a whole nother story for another thread....that I think i'll look up, and mayhaps start my own if there is no such existing yet.

I'm not sure if its in or not... (not going to read through 200+ pages) But is Neo-classical Metal in?
If not then:

The 1980s and beyond saw the most pure form of neo-classical metal, although the influence did exist in other musician's styles as early as heavy metal itself. Early classical influences within hard rock and heavy metal are most notably found in the playing of Ritchie Blackmore, Uli Jon Roth, and Randy Rhoads. The styling existed mainly with guitarists but was also present with other instrumentalists such as keyboardist Rick Wakeman. Since the beginning of rock guitar the techniques used on the electric guitar have developed rapidly, and prior to the 1970s, the level of technique needed for the genre was not present. Rock guitar technique developed well into the 80s where it peaked. Neo-classical metal has always been known for its advanced technical as well as theoretical aspects, originally found in classical music. The popularization and growth of neo-classical metal is closely related to the ascension of the guitar shredding movement, as many neo-classical metal guitarists took inspiration from classical virtuoso musicians such as Niccolo Paganini and Frederic Chopin.

Pioneers: Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Paul Gilbert, Tony MacAlpine, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker
Bands worth noticing: Michael Angelo Batio, Vitalij Kuprij, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Joe Stump, Symphony X, Stratovarius, Necrophagist, Rhapsody of Fire, Galneryus, Versailles, Adagio and Rata Blanca

Shouldn't Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple be included as pioneers?

And I think Pantera could use some mentioning, after all, they were the only band keeping metal "alive" in the 90's during the grunge explosion. Though I'm not completely sure where you would put it, so it's cool if you don't.

96% of people today have moved on to (c)rap. If you're that 4% of people who shout out 'Kick out the jams motherf*ckers!' And begin moshing and thrashing around, Then put this in your sig.

I shall not change this until Final Fantasy VIII is in the PSN.
