Well, I do have a few.

First off, I found out my true interests in the Insult the Avatar Above You! Thread located in my signature. I never really knew I had it in me until that thread.
Deffinitly can't forget that time I did that Christmas list giveaway. Ended up buying doll ears for someone and recieving a lot of gifts myself 3nodding

The anti-ball, whooo! That was a place to be at to learn how fast posts can really go! Won the scariest avatar and the understanding of myself a little more.

Next, I'd have to say all those random topics to see how people would react in the chatterbox, but particularly with that one time where I had a potential domestic abuser enter my thread. That was...just a very odd experience for me.

Finally, there's that stunt I pulled a few days ago in General Chat. Breaking and entering a "private" thread started a bit of debate on whether the Veteran Flamers were spammers and should have their threads moved/deleted. This taught me that I can have a bigger impact as a thread killer than most people think.

Oh yes, the past week is deffinitly rememberable. After I changed my name to this, I've had 9 events, mostly trunks. Thank you Gaia, you are the best, and the admins are the better of you!

*randomly comes aross this thread and decides to share some*

July-I first joined up and got used to how some things went, reading the stickies and such without having to be directed to them and I discovered the Catgirl Adoption Home in Barton Town which has grown to almost 9,000 pages now. Yet, I was clueless about the donation items. I could have gotten the bear hats then for cheap maybe. ;_;

August-The first time I remember so many errors on one day, the 6th, which also happened to be my 18th birthday. It sucked that I couldn't lurk Gaia that day. But I finally cought on to the donation items and bought portable headphones for 2.7k.

October-I loved the new theme that came out and the Halloween items but I was on my Bunny Slippers quest (which I also got this month) so my friend bought me a Ghostie. xp It also took me all day long to gather all 8 grab bags from about 7:30 am to 12 am, minus a few hours for classes. I went straight to bed after I got my last bag.

December-I also loved the Christmas/Winter theme and fell in love with the falling snow when it came out. I'd sit there and just watch it fall on the map when I was bored. And Christmas was fun but the slippers were way too much. sweatdrop I did get 2 gift boxes from the tree though. I gave up trying for wings.

Those are the biggest things I remember though I've got tons more memories than just those. But a lot of the things mentioned already, I remember as well. I'm a mad lurker and poster. I'm watching you all. ninja sweatdrop Also, my boyfriend, who joined after me, got a gift box before me and it contained a nitemare headband but being the sweetie that he is, he gave it to me.

*slides away again*

If my memory doesn't fool me, I joined Gaia in March 2003, bearing the name "Alcarcalimo".
Back when Joker was making the streets unsafe, I decided to join the GPD.
Shortly after, I created Gaia's S.W.A.T. force.
Working closely together with the GPD, or so I tried to make myself believe, S.W.A.T. and I witnessed the late stages of Joker's grip on Gaia's citizens, had a slight quarrel with the Yakuza and did some other things which might or might not be remembered.
Alcarcalimo was soon joined by another account of mine: Maki.
Maki initially started to provide a story for S.W.A.T. and the GPD to work on together, having stolen the princess' crownjewels.
The GPD's chief and I were running around in that thread, searching for her, yet the story died and the GPD's boss left, apparently returning some time later.
About a month after I joined, I noticed more and more spammers and weird people appearing and the amount of users rised enormously.
Hotmail decided not to send me any more E-mails coming from this forum, so I sat in the dark, not having saved my favorite threads to my IE-favorites.
Many idiots came, but many well-spoken gaians came as well. As the users rised, so did the errors.
Initially, I didn't see many errors and the site looked mighty interesting from the beginning, yet I started to get annoyed when certain things weren't going the way they should've gone.
Having been around Arwen for a long time, I saw her grow to be one of Gaia's more influential people.
I'm kinda proud of her and of having known her before.
Maki went for a short period, then I decided to 'bring her back to life', as it were... finally deciding to throw Alcarcalimo in the dustbin instead.
The forums have grown considerably over the year and many nonsense can be found, while one or two threads tend to stick out to me on a common day.
Unfortunately, it now seems as though gold-fever has struck amongst Gaia's residents.
Were the prices nice and low, the items well made and not directly pointing to anything in particular, now I seem to notice clothing which look mysteriously like a certain pop-star... a certain B. Spears.
I've donated since July, because PayPal decided to only give me the money then, so I missed only the halo (The only thing yet missing to complete my Angelic set..), yet I think the 3 donation items per user rule was better than the one there is at the moment, although it is true I take advantage of that new rule.
Gaia has grown. Both in size as in errors and I've seen both young (under 13) and old (over 30) post with eagerness.
God knows I've made mistakes while being a resident here, my most shameful one having been the fact that I sold nearly all donation items I owned, one of which I seem to have lost 99000 gold on, according to the G.E.N., and the fact that it still bothers me shows I'm not unaffected by the Goldfever either.

I can only say one thing to Gaia and it's crew: Keep the torch burning and I'll stick around!

More recently, I've found myself a family and a new home here, seeing as how I found out I was transsexual and cried over Cigarette's situation, then gripping myself together as I saw the sheer amount of users who live with her each day she remains on this earth.
I, for one, cannot believe she will die and hope she outlives Gaia's existence, although I hope Gaia won't die before me.

I hope I haven't bored anyone with my rambling, yet I know I haven't said everything I could say yet.

Trusty Gaian for at least another year, I salute thee, Gaia, and wish thee a long and prosperous life!
Maki

WARNING: Avvieboobs.

I don't really have too many memories that were worth anything. Do we REALLY want to remember the Giftrape fad?

Anyway, this is about another crossdressing glitch. It happened in the early morning of December 9, and I call it "Night of the Transvestites." Unfortunately, it got obliterated, as the forum only holds what happened in the past 2 months.

Basically, if you changed clothes between about 1-4 AM, you were stripped naked and wearing the opposite gender's underwear. Meaning, buys were wearing the girls' undies...and girls were wearing the guys' boxers and nothing else. And you could go to the store and buy opposite gender clothing.

Here's a banner from that night (I'm second from left):
http://web.mit.edu/dcpete06/www/glitch.jpg

Afterwards, there was a problem with new signups--they'd be created without eyes, hair, mouths, or undies. They were called "freaks," and they were good. Incidentally, it was a boon for avatar artists, since they now had raw avvies to work with.

Here's a sample.

Other than that, that's the best I can do.

i could have been old school. here's my story.

taeha, beloved green mod, is a friend of mine from before. one day she mentioned that she had joined this site. i gave it a look, decided it wasn't for me, and left it alone. that was wayyyy back in the day. then, towards the end of june, she was talking about it again and i decided to give it a try. i registered and was hooked. i've introduced a good handful of people to the site (and a couple people i wish i hadn't) and i come on here all the time.

i remember when ED got started and i was in there more than anywhere else. it was fun, for a while, but i guess nobody really took to me and so it kind of alienated me after a while. and the subforums don't make me inclined to go back. but that's all right, i found a new home: right here in Q&F. see, i would come into this forum first of all each time i logged on, to check Lanzer's Work Diary and see if anything exciting was in the offing. eventually i just started staying in the forum, reading posts, and sometimes actually answering them. i didn't think i was being very interesting and i figured i was just another face to everyone... until the fateful night of the Third Leg. Rayquazza's ... erm... endowment, and his dramatic reaction to clapping, spurred a post to monumental lengths (pun completely intended), and everyone was bantering away and INCLUDING ME as if i was a cool person they knew and even liked. it was so much fun that i couldn't wait until it happened again, and it DID. giftrape. i think i even got in on the ground floor with that one, giving an early definition (i'm quoted on the first page of the guild, yay!) and having a good time.

and, of course, my "establishments" in commerce, that nobody ever seems to go to other than people who "work" there. we do have fun, especially in the waldepus where we regularly kick famous people in the nuts.

so thanks, gaia, it's been a good time.

Seeing the old homepage made me laugh... and then I found myself saying to myself a lot, "Wow... that really happened that long ago?"

Time goes by so fast. *Sniffles.*

I've joined in July. And I have one thing to say: This forum has some of the weirdest, strangest, and down right disturbing people I have ever met.

By Jove, I love this place.

Oh yes, I can't believe I forgot the posting glitch that has been occuring. You all know, the having to look at the topic review to see anything anyone has posted last thing. That was fun 3nodding

oh, and all this talk about the Rumour Patrol thread reminds me of when it was started, and thinking it was a good idea and trying to post in there and bust a rumour or two but being totally ignored and other people getting the credit, and it now being too big and scary for me to venture into.

gaia's like that sometimes.

heart This topic was very informational! xD

I can't believe I never bought a panda hat back in July. Back then, I wanted one, too. I don't believe I ever got over 2k back then, though. whee

I loved Gaia back then. I played it for a few months...and then just drifted off. I remember I came back for a week or so around october, because a lot of my friends were talking about halloween. I couldn't get any candy, and I was p'oed, so I stopped playing. xD I started up again in December, because I was getting bored with Neopets. xD

I loved December. It was so fun, awaiting for Christmas...xD

January was a GREAT month. I got my first donation letter then. I joined Wish Fulfillers, and made loads of new friends. I've started hanging around the Exchange, ED, and Q&F. It's been a good year so far. heart

Zaeyde
September

To be honest, not a lot of exciting things happened in September. xd

+ Mini Wings
+ Post Deletion

Mini Wings
Ahh yes, september was the release of the mini wings. Those little trinkets you could once buy for 3k now soar up near 200k.
The Mini Angelics http://graphics.go-gaia.com/forum/images/thumbnails/1315981c7a1174c949cededbb342a02b.png and the Mini Nitemares http://graphics.go-gaia.com/forum/images/thumbnails/10a1287f21a13175e42e785d72e487d4.png are now the subjet of many quests. Who would have thought the little mini wings would surpass in price their larger counterparts?

Post Deletion
Lanzer added a script that deleted old postes in the chatterbox. That took a load off Gaia's servers. The Chatterbox was simply becoming a Hell-Hole of meaningless... chatter.

Something happened in September that's important 3nodding

That's the month the Rumor Patrol was created! heart On the 16th of September, in fact. 3nodding
