I remember joining at the end of november and seeing everyone wearing the OMG and AFK hats and I was like, "Ooo I want one of those." So I put everything else to a halt and busted my a** earning gold for a letter, I got one for 4.5k and I was the happiest thing on earth, I still have my OMG and I wouldn't part with it for the world!

I remember that I got into GAIA because I saw my sister avvie, so i begged for one. I was so lost. I remember reading all the stickies and faqs and getting a headache (so much to do, so little time). Then after i decided to go shopping with my sister, (we had been reading and posting so much we made enough money to buy the ocean clothes) I still have them. then my boyfriend discovered a way to get me more rares and he got me a OMG hat and my sister a AFK. It was so fun ^^ I try to wear it always (either that or my cool Kitty ears)

Well, it all started out when I entered 58mm's little lotto in June. I entered and of course I didn't win. So I got really frusterated because I had no gold and I had no idea how to get some. So I posted around and I found the FAQ's. So I read them all and I read all the stickies. (Many Gaians don't anymore sadly) I felt so accomplished after I read everything. I knew everything so I knew it was going to be the start of a great time on Gaia.

I joined September 6m though never really got on much until December. Man I wish i did though. I missed a lot ;_;
But I love this place! Its so fun. I really don't like places like these because I always feel like everyone only cares about themselves and their friends, but Gaia is diffrent and somehow got me hooked n_n Although I still don't know anyone from here because I don't post much (messa am a lurker n_n;;; )

I joined in October. That first night I remember staying up late, until I had the 600g required to buy the Goth Pants. When I bought them I wore them proudly, as it was my first "quest" completed. I also saw someone with a Ducky Hat on, and was mesmerised by the ducks at their feet. I thought they must be an admin, for surely there were no pets! Then I learned it was all in the hat, and continue to learn more about Gaia today.

But the DJs were completely different. When I saw them, I knew I must have them. And that launched my quest for DJs, which was completed on January first, 2004. I remember thinking I would never make the 60k needed back in October.

I remember seeing my first Devil Tail...being worn by the great Q&F god Demon Seishi.....I sat there and oogled for quite some time...I HAD to own a Devil Tail...but I kept putting it off and putting it off and at the time they were going for anywhere from 7-11k but I just kept thinking, "Hey, I'll get one later they can't get much more expensive." But as I learned, they could and they did. I finaly settled down and forced myself to save ((I'm a compulsive spender)) And it took alittle while but I have mine and due to my waiting I had to pay 47k for it, but I love it and I'm proud of the work I went though to get it!

I remember when I first joined... I think my first post was something along the lines of..

"Hey everyone... Im new. Hope I can have an awesome time with you guys on Gaia...woah, Im naked."

Back then, people were alot nicer. They didnt start off with a "CHARITY FORUM, STUPID NEWB!!!" but they started off with more of a "Hey there. Enjoy your time on Gaia. 3nodding "

We didnt have any trading passes, or even a gambino. And I used to get alot more trunks because there werent that many people around.

Since this is the last day before the Anniversary, I thought I'd post and share some of my memories, however few compared to those who remember when Gaia was only a few months old or younger.

I joined in October, as my profile boasts. It was the last forum I joined as a 12-year-old.

Many things have happened since my joining, I'm gonna list my fondest memories smile

-Crossdressing. That was fun. Though the glitch was fixed before I could get on that day, reading all the posts as seeing images from the glitch was hilarious xd

-Girftrape! I didn't see the thread before word of it spread through the forums, but I'll be able to tell my grandchildren, "I remember back in the day when they started Giftrape Awareness..."

-My first trunk! It was what got me on my feet on Gaia, a trunk with a leather collar with cross on it. It made me 10000g richer, and though I gave 2000 to my friend Patta, I was able to buy the bunny ears I was seeking at the time.

-Rayquazza's little gender issue, quite a memorable thread wink

-Lizbot's sheep! Though his shop is closed (Temporarily I hope crying ) his sheep were so cute... http://stellmond.bravepages.com/sheepwducky.gif

-LOBTER, my AFK hat xp I never really explained the story of Lobter, and what better place? A new grocery store had opened nearby, so we decided to check it out. While looking at seafood, I made an amazing discovery. On a sign by lobster tails, some poor soul hadn't realized they forgot the 's' in 'lobster'! So I ran around shouting "LOBTER!" at random moments. I am easily amused. The next few visits, still no employee had noticed the little typo. Then came the AFK hat. I hadn't donated or bought one back when they were a little cheeper, but after staring at them for little over a month, I had fallen in love with AFK's cute little ears and beady, forever-staring eyes. I declared to my friend Patta in an IM, "When I get AFK hat, I'm gonna name it LOBTER!". And then the Jacked-up shirt was rising in price, and I sold mine for 7k. I bought Lobter for somewhere around 9k 3nodding Oh, and I visted the store recently with my camera to get a picture of Lobter tails, and they fixed the sign! crying Oh well, I'll always have my lobter...

-The dreaded Christmas tree in the center of Barton.... Now more commonly known as the 'Demon Tree'. The rare fairy wings, all giving spirt lost as people made a mad dash to the exchange, selling and selling for often rediculously low prices just to get more money and over and over take the gamble at the tree to see if they'd get wings. But instead, a few (usually unsuspecting) people got wings, and there were so many jolly slippers people were giving them away in bulk, most newbies had been given this gift which they cherished but made us shudder at the sight of them. Hmmm... Maybe the admins were being very tricky? They made us all give our horded gold, and then upset us by making so many people feel they'd spent their gold for nothing, and make them eventually give away most of their slippers so they really got nothing at all. Wow. What a way to force people to give in a community filled with selfishness not before revealed. Anyway, we all thought it would kill the economy, but instead the economy has recovered and it helped even out the playing field a little. I think that's a good thing, even if those that donated like crazy to get slippers (Not me, I did it only once and I'm happy with my slippers, thanks biggrin ) won't agree. Plus the event helped me better understand how Gaia's economy really works. Even moreso, it taught me about economies in general, something I never quite understood before.

-Lanzer posted right after me in a thread! It might not seem important to you, but considering how often Lanzer posts, I was very excited xd

-This space here is reserved for the memory of Gaia's 1st anniversary, which I'm sure will be an event I won't forget any time soon in my Gaian life and beyond wink

this isn't a memory... sweatdrop there are enough posted by other users as it is...but i'd just like to say that Gaia is special because it's not just a message board/forum, but a big community, for artists and just people in general (er...and shopaholics! blaugh )...it's nice to have a place to live and be yourself without being discriminated, laughed at, yelled at...and just have fun and talk with other people. sometimes you need a break from the cruelty of and troubles in real life...thanks, Gaia, for being a happy haven. biggrin *happy birthday* ...and, LONG LIVE GAIA~!
