Gaia's First Year Memory Timeline ~~ Happy Birthday, Gaia!

^.^ I don't believe this has been mentioned before, but does anyone remember Angsty Shem's Spam Lotto that started when the Exchange was still brand spaking new? I wasn't in it, but I joined in the second incarnation of it, and have been a member of every round since. Now known as the Hybrid Lotto, we're in our 13th round, and have dozens of regular participants. With regular jackpots in excess of 2k gold, posts of over 1000 pages, mini lottos, and the occaisional random prize giving, these are among some of my favorite memories. The Lottos even have their own Lounge where you can find links to the older lottos that still exist. ^.^

o.o The Spam Lottos ended and the Hybrids started when the lotto thread was moved to the Chatterbox by a mod. With some tweaking and some pleading, we got the thread moved back to the lotto thread. As a mixture of charity, spam, lotto, and goodwill, it truly is a Hybrid. o.o

biggrin I'm indirectly in the memoralbe events list. *beams* I ran one of the largest secret santa threads here, I belive I had over 500 people sign up. It was verry hectic, but a lot of fun too and you can expect to see a new and improved Second Annual Gaia Secret Santa next Christmas. (I'll even spell annual right this time xd )

I have a random memory I can include... I don't remember what month it was or anything like that, all I know is it had something to do with Lanzer in a dress, and Spikeykun acting like Tatewake Kuno from Ranma ½, wanting to win "her" love. Someone, I think it was Kia Ryou, even drew a comic for it. THAT was classic...

I was first introduced to Gaia through the wonderous website that is ClanBOB (clanbob.net) when Cowkitty posted a little blurb about the site. Curious, and mostly bored, I clicked the registration link she'd posted, and I was hooked right away. This is a lot more fun than Neopets, and I think it's cool that I'm part of the very beginnings of this place. I joined on July 4th, 2003, and I have loved every minute I've spent on here. I'm happy to be a part of this community, and I've made lots of friends and very few enemies around here. (Though I have flamed the occasional idiot newbie in the chatterbox because they spelled "the" wrong xd ) I have lots of wonderful memories, including finally getting my kimono in December, with the help of some very wonderful people (who I STILL owe doodles. I need to find my old thread and get the names of the people who donated sweatdrop ). So I will join in the wonderous celebration of Gaia's first birthday, and I anxiously await all the wonderful times to come in the next year.

I joined in December, so I'm still relatively new. I didn't think I had many memories until I started reading through this thread (great idea, by the way).

I remember going to introduce myself in the newbie thread and getting a basic brownie skirt from Shaoli. I was so excited, not so much for the skirt (although I LOVE it) as for the fact that someone was that nice to buy me something. xd

I knew I was on Gaia for good when I came back from Christmas and logged on to see that I was just a shadow of my former self. sweatdrop I went into my profile to see what the problem was and found my jolly hat. I was so happy, but when I tried to recreate myself my only option was male. eek I freaked out wondering if I actually saved it if my future in Gaia would be as a male FOREVER. I quickly came to the Q&A Forum and posted that Santa gave me a sex change for Christmas and what could I do. Within a few minutes several nice people told me how I could get back to my adorable female self. Whew! sweatdrop

I just donated for the first time this month and I can't believe how exciting it is just waiting to find out what I've gotten. Well worth every penny for the excitement. xd

Happy Birthday, Gaia! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us in the coming year!
