Gaia's First Year Memory Timeline ~~ Happy Birthday, Gaia!

erm....

....risking going on gaia during school to complete my first trade on the day that trades were introduced...

...the three days that gaia was down at the end of april i think...and i had nothing to do.... crying

I originally signed up in July and for a month or so, I was enjoying my time in Gaia. I wish I had donated back then but I was still new to the site and I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth my time and money. Turns out it really, really was. xd

Unfortunatly, life intruded and in the process of moving to a new town and trying to get my internet working again, I was away from Gaia for the months of August and September. When I came back, some things had changed but others had not. I quickly became very obsessed with the site and I made my first donation. $10 for an angelic sash! Worth every penny. whee

Most of all, I remember the start of the Extended Discussion forum. Back then, it seemed like Gaians had more of an effect on what the mods did, either that or we were making more reasonable requests. General Discussion was becoming a place of strong dissention. On one half, there were those who wanted to have intelligent, sometimes controversial discussions and on the other, there were those who just wanted to chat about lighter subjects. Unfortunatly, these people often crossed paths and Gaians were becoming disguisted with the way their topics were heading. At their request, the Extended Discussion forum was started up, providing a place for the more serious Gaians to discuss what was on their minds.

If I remember correctly, the ED was instigated in October. Either that or at the end of July before I left. sweatdrop

I can't believe how old i am (my avatar)! not quite a veteran though. (darn!) hee hee. When I joined, I had no idea most of those things were even happening. Just think, if I had been at all in the know I would have had headphones crying c'est la vie. I do remember the first time i saw mini-wing though, i thought they were a glitch, or at least i couldn't figure out what they were supposed to be. It was a good summer spent pirating on MangaCatGirl's pirate ship. Haven't found another like it.

Heh... Most people remember Christmas for the (stupid stupid grumble grumble) Jolly Slipper/Fairy Wings rush. I, too, achieved Wingdom that day....

My friend, Cookiepino (Heya Cookie!), gave me two double-wrapped presents, just a little while before we could open them. We sat around, chatting on AIM, until the time came....

As soon as I could, I opened one, opened it again.... Nothing. Aw. "Must be some sort of glitch," I said to myself.

I opened the other, opened the inside one... And there, behold: FAIRY WINGS!! "YAY! Thank you, Cookie! I love 'em!"

I was exstatic, needless to say. Only later did I find out that he didn't actually BUY me the Wings! He had bought me a Dec. Letter and a Red Snowbored Jacket. To this day, I don't know which one disapparated, and which one was transformed....

Anyway... that's my story. Yeah. razz

Oh man, I can't really recall many actually happenings in Gaia that haven't already been mentioned (since nothing interesting ever really happens to me personally), but when I think of the old days, when Gaia was first created, I just feel happy. Not that I'm not now, but it's a nice reminiscing sort of happy. I remember when, if you had bunny ears, you were considered filthy rich! xd Ahahaha... yeah. sweatdrop whee

Don't you mean the Rollback? Where everyone recieved 1000g?
Besides those two rollbacks I don't remember any big crash.. >_>;;

is that what they called it. i was were gaia was really cranky, and then it just went down... and it was down for lke three days. sweatdrop but yes we recieved 1k. and people lost items and gold durring that itme

whee. i remember that weird roll-over thing. there was some kinda gltich and i got like 3k instead of the 1k most people got. it all went to my charity shoppe, so that was fine, but it was really cool.
