Gaia's First Year Memory Timeline ~~ Happy Birthday, Gaia!

hmmm i think my fave time had to be halloween! it was so fun running around insanely trying to get 15 post, candy, another 15 post, more candy, ect.... and then jack came for a visit!! eek it was so cool the first time jack visited me because i didn't know what i was going to see... and then, right before my eyes was this pumpkin head freaky demon looking guy handing me a bag and stealing my candy! xd heart i had tons of fun that night... plus, halloween is my b-day... so maybe i had more fun because i was in a pretty good mood already 3nodding

OMG NOSTOLGIA!

Let's see ... I remember back in February that we all whored Barton Town to be our RP center. And we all wanted a sense of community so we started creating businesses and bars and clubs and hotels to let our characters sleep in. But we also had fields and forests and back alleys and playgrounds that helped define the areas outside of the stores. And then the admins created the Gaia Commerce for the businesses to be moved to. And that was a surprising and beautiful day because on a refresh I noticed I was in this new forum area and couldn't understand what just happened. ^_^

AMEnoMUREKO (i think I butchered the spelling) used to be my hero. Back when gold trading was just a suggestion, he started the original mini-shop of sending gifts to other users if you asked him too (Like, if you wanted to send someone special a bouquet of roses, he'd find an image somewhere and send that person the image. ^_^ ). He also started the original Avatar Auctions. It was beautiful. They weren't about who was richest and thus who could spend the most money, but about what kind of temporary alliances you could throw together in two hours. Because everyone had the same amount of "credit" and you could give your money to other users for them to bid with. heart I remember that gummi fish (GUMMI FISH! Not even a person's avatar!) went for close to 1,000,000 during one auction. And the best part? And once you won or were won by someone, you just followed them around for a week and did little things, like RP in a certain way for them (like a house cleaner or errand boy, not anything sexual. xp ) or changed your avvie's appearance for a week. It was beautiful!

And the guilds. heart heart heart I don't remember who started it, but these are the original guilds I remember: Red Dragon Syndicate, The Boxershort Rebellion, The Fist, The Yakuza, The Dark Parliment, a magical girl one (I can't remember the name! gonk ) with it's subset of The Rosepetal Knights for guys, and then the Masquerade. I remembered looking at all the guilds and feeling so out of place, so I created my own for furries. And ... I'm honestly surprised it still exists. It's slow and not much happenes, but damnit, we still are here. 3nodding

I would have to say My favorite memory on Gaia was Gaia-con created and hosted by Aree and a bunch of us.A mod stickied the topic up for us too. It was three days of online fun and Its things like that I enjoy. You dont need to get stuff (though the Gaia-con passes were cute) to really have fun here. The RP is what keeps me coming back, Gaia keeps improving daily.

I still wear my Jack pants, and aside from the dark tux pants I bought for the New Years Ball, they are the only pants I have ever owned. 3nodding

I hope that Jack returns next year, with all new goodies to distribute! biggrin Either way, I'll never forget him dropping in and stealing my candy. Oh! And Sasha was being mean to me that night! She gyped me out of a few pieces of candy!! *shakes his fist* stressed

I joined on March 17th (St. Patrick's Day, and only one day inside of Gaia's first month!).

One of my first and most fun memories was becoming one of the very first Gaian models, when the Personals were introduced in the last half of March:


Yep, that's my avatar in the graphic! It was back in the days before I could afford elf ears for my avatar. There were a few of us who discussed our avatars being used for the buttons with interest. We were curious why we had been chosen, and L0cke posted to tell us that they had simply looked for avatars with a unique and well-put-together appearance. We were all ready to strut down the runway. whee

When Gambino was to be released to everyone. All users stayed online for the update to come...it was suppose to be released on midnight..but instead Gambino Island was released on 6am PST time. Everyone stayed up late for it. Some people flooded the Q&F forum asking where it is. ^_^ Nice memory.
