I remember back in September..... When I first got my halo they were 100k MAX... And not many people cared for them.... And the exchange was care and friendly.... Now there are alot of scammers and greed in there..... Your lucky to make a thread without getting flammed if your offer for an item isn't close to worth the item.... (if you didn't know the price of halos back in September they were barely 100k... I got mine for 70k + Hero Scar.... Legend got his shortly after mine for 70k + NM Headband....) You can't lend even peasants clothes anymore without fear of someone stealing them eek

Back in July/August the Pink Boxed Headbands were only worth about 10k each.... Then n00bs and greed started takeing over mid September.....

When I first started playing, in August, headbands went for 40k, Yito. I remember because I wanted one but thought I'd never be able to afford it.

Prices have gone way down since I started.

I got my headbands for 10k cheapest and 17k at most in July/August.... I have been here since June 5th.... And Lanzer mentioned the Easter slippers/new easter items in September

I love my Shrine. whee My members are all amazing people who truly care about eachother, the admins, and mods. I couldn't ask for a better group! It feels like it was just created yesterday (well, December 19th wasn't too long ago). blaugh

I just want to say Happy Birthday and thank you to the administrators and to the moderators. If it wasn't for all of you, Gaia wouldn't be here.......*has a skill at stating the obvious, apparantly* sweatdrop We love all of you.

When i first joined Gaia i was a chatterbox whore, and then i came to the exchange a lil bit. I started hangin out in the minishops subforum when that first came out, bought a lot of creatures, pets, toys and the list continues....Then i started makin friends on the exchange good friends and the exchange was so fun back then, ppl were nicer, ppl trusted one another, i became addicted to that....now that is no more sweatdrop
and ppl are leaving gaia left and right, i myself have thought of doin so, but i'm sticking around in hopes that some things will change for the better and not continue to drop as they have been

I remember back when I first joined gaia, it was June 8th. It was my dear friend Yitomic who nagged me most of the day to join, I'm glad now that I did. Gaia has helped me find some really great friends, make myself a better person and helped me find my fiance and love Drake. Without Gaia I would be a lost little devil-bunny, free to be abused by the cruel evils of the internet. Now I'm free to be a devil-bunny around psychos like myself heart So, Happy Birthday Gaia. You're doing quite well for being one years old. 3nodding And thanks for the great memories plus the ones yet to come.

And, as for the site changes. There have been so many it's crazy. The first time the basic layout changed was Halloween, I remember I woke up early the morning it changed and signed on. I wasn't sure I had the right website so I closed the window and got on again. Still got the black, gothicy layout so I did that about four more times before I said "Oh well" Then in December the layout changed for Christmas.

I like it when the site changes for the holidays because Gaia seems to be, for me, a whole nother world that is free for me to explore. I get to meet new people and go different places daily. I absolutely love it. There are so many different possible ways to be your own unique person just like normal every day life.

There's been so many new clothes added, each update better then the last. And there's still so many things left to be added, I want to stay on Gaia as long as possible to see all of it. Gaia is just one big surprise and fun time waiting to happen, you just have to kick back and let it happen.

This thread is a great way for newcomers to learn about Gaia's history through the veterans memories and for veterans to reminisce upon the "Good Old" days which started out with a small community not knowing what the future Gaia had in store for them and turning into a megalopolis full of citizens from every spectrum of ideas paving the way for a better community.

I found the events and memories of Gaia very helpful in enriching my knowledge of the past. If there was a more truly magnificent moment in Gaia history, it would have to be it's birth. We all get to celebrate another wonderful moment in time to celebrate the first anniversary of this event. It gives me goose bumps just to think what the future holds in store for us on Gaia with all the hard work Lanzer, VO, L0cke, Ling, and all the other admins who I've not had the pleasure of reading their posts yet, are planning.

If I had a truly memorable moment, it would have to be now. I have started finding my place in the Gaia community and it's truly remarkable citizens after joining January 10th, 2004. There is still a lot I have to learn and things to do to truly understand the essence of Gaia but, I think the creators had in mind to simply, just have fun and be happy.

I joined in August so my memories may not be as exciting as others.
December was my favourite month on gaia. Why you ask? Because it was christams, everyone was in the spirit of giving. Imagine my joy when i opened up a christmas box to find a december letter (thanks Nir) I live in Australia so i am unable to donate. but still to get that letter made me smile. I also remeber the presents i gave out. I spen a total on 30k -_-;;. But still christmas rocked on gaia.

I remember that in June, two of my friends (Rickie and SeeD) joined Gaia. I refused to join because I thought it was just another Neopets, boy was I wrong. sweatdrop

Gaia is a wonderful, fun and addicting community! XD Every time I get a rare, I still get that excited feeling that I had when I got my first trunk whee .

I remember when I joined Gaia, just around Halloween time. The browser bars were orange, and had pumpkins instead of the cute mini wings, and Barton and Gambino were dark and had paper lanterns all over. I also remember the shock when the browser bars returned to their original states and day rose upon the towns sweatdrop I got really addicted and spent about 3-5hours ( eek ) a day on Gaia. Since then I've become somewhat of a Gaia-guru to my friends and family, because I'm always recruiting new members! blaugh

Let's see, how was I going to put it?

The locking of this thread symbolizes one year on Gaia coming to an end. No, we are not taking thes memories, boxing them up, and locking then away forever. Think of it more as a picture frame. By locking this thread, we are taking these memories and placing them in a picture frame to be kept and protected for years to come on Gaia. Because that's what the site is about. It's not about the gold, or the avatars, or the rares, or the economy. It's about the memories we make here. It's about the new friends we make, as well as expireiences with people that may not be our friends. And if we simply let them die with the year, what use were they? Store them here, to be looked upon by future generations, as well as you, yourself, who may have forgotton some good times you had. Maybe you will look upon the thread in a year and say, "Oh! I remember that. I wonder how he's doing?" So when we lock this thread, remember. It's not just the door to one year closing. It's the opening of another. Enjoy.
