Though Manipulative = Evil beyond compare... especially when coupled with a less than standard sense of moral decency and an understanding of how people react to certain instances... ninja

(( But that's the thing... it's not just 'hotness'... there's a mindset to it.

You need A) Hotness, B) a natural tendancey towards manipulativeness, C) to be able to guage reactions of characters in a way that they will do what you expect, even if it isn't what you SAY you want them to do..., and D) ambiguous language... don't give up anything you don't want given up, or are putting out there as a decoy to make them think there's a trap, and make them cautious of it, while the entire point of making them think there's a trap when there isn't is to make them try to avoid that trap by moving into another one where there IS a trap, and then laugh since they just walked into it of their own free will... xd

((I got a few people to actually recommend that I have one of the mods turn this into a memorable thread. If they do, I'd have to remake a new Barton Forest thread, but that's no problem.

Think I should submit it to Arwen and see if it should be made into one?))

Anyway, yeah... it's really up to you to consider for that. It's true that this thread really is a bit 'legendary'... so if you want it to go historic, then let it be. whee ))

Closing remarks:

From fighting fires caused by stray missiles to fighting massive hordes of powerful demons bent on destroying the forest and seizing its hidden power for themselves; Barton Forest was always under some type of threat on a weekly basis. I can't believe it survived through it all. People who witnessed the wide range of crises that befell the forest can attest to all the close calls. >D
Ah, but that's what made it all the more appealing. People, often strangers, came together to fight for the survival of one of the oldest, natural landmarks in the land of Gaia.

And to think, the thread first started with a fairly simple plot. ^-^;

Waruko. A half-oni woman with amnesia wanders aimlessly through a forest she had never been in before...
Kitsune. A vengeful fox woman guards said forest with her life, protecting the many animals and trees...
The two of them crossed paths one fateful night and together they formed one of the greatest stories in all of Barton's history.

Their fights were legendary. (Current score tied at 2 wins and 1 draw)
Often measured on a godly scale, the damage they inflicted upon themselves and the land was astronomical. They even had to cross into a separate dimension once to keep from destroying everything in sight. Yet through it all, they remained close friends. Their ying-yang relationship survived through even the toughest of trials.

Anyway, as the co-owner of the thread (my partner being Waruko), I have to say thank you to all the people that made the whole Barton Forest story a huge success. Shifter, Stryphe, GoldenKitsune, Graewulf, TMJ, Misao, ZTB, Ekimmu (now turned Brahms), Athelas, Patton, Kelli, Valo, WhiteRabbit, Kojiro... (I know I'm missing a few so don't bite my head off). Just know that I am eternally grateful for the hard work you put into it. This was the best T1/Para-RP that I ever participated in...and I've participated in tons.

I have plans on making another Barton Forest thread someday, but for now, this one is closed and submitted to memory. I just wish Waruko was here to add something to it. *sniffs* She always had a flare for words. >D So yeah, thank you all for the help in making this one of the most memorable threads in Gaia.

Oh come on like there was anyway I wasn’t going to let this moment pass by. That and how could I resist having the final word.

So there I was one night coming up with one of those “kill off your character but not really” story lines and I decided to make Waruko have amnesia, hence become Shion. But this was back in the day when Gaia was small in its community population so I needed my own place to RP to avoid the Yakuza regulars and those of the Night Syndicate. So I made the Barton Forest. The idea of having Waruko run feral for a bit of time sparked my interest so much that I made it a reality. Next thing I know within a couple of days a certain kitsune follows me from the Streets of Barton thread and decides the Forest is HER home. What a stuck up little pup of a thing right? Guess she thought she was better then one of those alley cat types, who knows? Well, mayhem ensued and what we get is this pile of pages that most likely won’t exist 20 years from now. Or will it?

I think it will because it is a creation of the heart and that is where it will remain. See Barton Forest much like any other RP is about having fun and enjoying yourself, which I have to say I did, with lots of people here but mostly Kitsune. It was her and my story first and foremost, our private place if we wished it to RP just the two of us. But no two players are an island onto themselves I think and that is why all the other people came and helped make it a truly entertaining story. I learned many things from the Forest and to close let me share a few.

1. The world is a small place. Seems Kitsune was for a bit a long distance romantic interest of one of my close friends and we found this out after we had meet for over a month.
2. If your going to make a battle and you don’t want ANYONE to interrupt just have the other person and you type it out in advance. That way if it is a long fight you can drop it for a few days and when you both get around to posting it everyone will think you have super typing skills of the secretary gods!
3. Never get offended if someone disrespects your RP skills especially on your home turf. It’s a bully mentality most likely. These people are easy to disprove and when you do don’t expect an apology.
4. The best fights are those between friends. Hence why Kitsune and me had 5 of them! Why is this so? Easy no complaining about munching or need for a judge. In fact munching is allowed if they ok it. Also it is fun to talk with your friend and plan out a battle for hours. In the end the fight is better written and planned and the quality shows for it too.
Lastly, I state again its all about the Benjamins…I mean money…doh…I mean the story and making it a fun and enjoyable. So remember to have fun always.
