If you've read the whole thread, and want to support the effort, you can donate.

Donations will be used towards:
o1. Payment (even in part) of any artist who wishes to submit art.
o2. Gifts to the admins, mods, coders, developers, Gaia Helpers, and anyone else part of the team that keeps this site going (this is in the case of art, poetry, prose, etc.).
o3. Prizes for the contests to be held.

We will keep a STRICT log of what we get in from donations and what we spend it on. Again, we're not doing this for our own benefit, we're doing this because how many times do you see anyone trying to give appreciation to who deserves it?

That being said, donations can come in the following forms:

o1. Art for the admins/mods/programmers/helpers/coders/developers: This is purely donation work. We want to get good artists, yes, but we know that we wont have the gold to do so. If you'd be kind enough to donate art, not only do you show your appreciation, but how proud would you be that an admin has your art in their sig, or photobucket account? We'll accept anything from the crappiest Paint doodle to the best CG'd piece anyone has ever seen.
o2. Poetry/Prose: Users can also write poetry or prose for the admins et. al.
o3. Items: Any items given to us will be used as prizes for the
contests, or sold to get prizes for the contest, or pay some artists for art.
o4. Gold: Obviously will be used towards anything we need from prizes for the thread contests, to buying something for the admins, to buying art.
o5. Telling people about this: We want to make this the biggest thank you and appreciation thread Gaia has ever seen, and we need to get a lot of users in here to help us out with that. Please, just by telling friends and having them tell friends, we can accomplish that goal.

To donate, we've set up a special mule account. We dont want to risk any funds of ours getting confused with funds that were donated. Any and all donations from traded items/gold to art should be sent to this account:

As aforementioned, all donations taken in will be logged as well as where those donations went to, if they went to anything. Anything not used will be returned to whomever donated (if we know, like, assuming we get two red pimpin hats, how can we tell who's we used and who's we didn't?) or will be donated to quests and charities around the site.

STORYTIMEYAY. So one day, a little Roko was thinking about how it'd be fun to have all the oldbies dress up like their very first avatar. This made Roko think of "blast from the past" which linked to "SPIRITWEEK ZMOG." (This is how my mind works k. <3) She felt compelled to tell someone about it, and who better than her Gaian fiancé, Renaela, who has always been anxious about big userplanned events.

When Roko excitedly told Ren of her plans, she took Roko's idea and expanded it to a whole new level, hoping to involve the entire Gaian community in celebration of the administrators' hardwork. And so the two set off, planning their event in secret every chance they got (which honestly wasn't a lot, since the two are very busy IRL). Until one day, they couldn't hold it in anymore - they HAD to share their idea with the rest of Gaia. And here were are today, one big thread o' fun (hopefullyplz).

Who: Hosted by Gaia's [ Hiroko ] and Renaela.
What: Gaian Spirit Week, Giveaway, Contests, and a BIGBAGOFFUN. Yey.
When: Present to February 18. Spirit Week from February 13 to February 17.
Where: In this thread. An additional (optional) guestbook linked in the "user quilt" post.
Why: Because the administrators, programers, and the entire staff work REALLY hard to keep this place working, and so many people just complain. We know there are many defenders of staff members, but this is kinda one... BIG thing to sum it all up. Or at least that's what we're hoping for.

On the last day of this event (February 18), we plan on collecting everything we've received (arts, poetry, prose, and signatures in the guestbook) and sending it to our administrators. Hopefully, they'll enjoy it as much as we have. </cornykthx>

You guys, at some point or another, I'm sure, had Spirit Week in high school. I know, I know, its ridiculous to do some of that stuff, ruins your image, and besides you dont HAVE school spirit, right?

But do you have GAIA Spirit?

The week leading up to Gaia's Anniversary we will be having a contest and event filled Spirit Week, with different challenges for you to do. Similar to what you'd see at high school we'd have dress-up events, class color events, etc.

Now, sure, you may not want to participate in all of them, but think how touched the admins and staff will be to see people participating to SHOW that they appreciate Gaia and all of the hard work going into it? Plus, there will be contests and prizes, which should appeal to even the most greedy item-whores out there. (Wekid. D: Weloveyou kthx. - Roko)

Please, if not for you, do it to support a site that has been giving people something to do for three fun-filled years.

Monday, February 13th, 2006: Clutter it up!
Like clutter? You'll love this. Basically, the concept is to just dress your avatar to the max. Think it can hold more? Try it out. Supposedly, the largest amount of items that can be held on one avatar is in the 50s somewhere. Give it a shot. Show your support of the items by wearing
as many as possible. For all you AT'ers, MATCH the outfit. We know, clutter is horrible and we deserve slaps on the wrist, but it's one day to show support of the site.

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006: Blast From the Past!
We were all newbs at some point right? I'm sure most of you want to forget those days, but for this one day, dress like your first avatar. It doesn't have to be peasant clothe-esque, it can be your first outfit, or include the first item you quested for. Go back to your roots, and remember what it felt like to just be starting out, when you didnt have as much as you do now.

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006: COLOR WAR
What kind of Spirit week would this be if we didnt have some kind of battle of the classes? And so, in true Spirit week style, for this day, you must dress your avatar in your join year color. You CAN mix with black and white, but the outfit MUST be primarily your join year's color. Bragging rights go to the year that has the most members dress up in their year's color and post in this thread. We'll be keeping a tally :3

If you joined in 2004 your color is: PURPLE
If you joined in 2005 your color is: GREEN
If you joined in 2006 your color is: BLUE

Thursday, February 16th, 2006: Zomg, I just saw Lanzer....TWICE?
COSPLAY STYLE. Time to bust out the guns of mimicry and fun. Either cosplay as your favorite character from an Anime/Manga/Series, or, BONUS (and what we'd prefer you do), dress up like your favorite (or least favorite) mod, admin, coder, developer, or helper. Mock away, but do it appreciatively!
Up for a challenge? Try cosplaying as an NPC. Counts will be kept of how many people dress up as certain popular people such as all of the admins, and the more widely known moderators. SUPPORT YOUR FAVORITE by stealing their style for the day!

Friday, February 17th, 2006: WE'VE got Spirit, YES WE DO!
In cumulation of the whole event, we decided that there would be no better way to lead into a sitewide event than by showing your true Gaia colors. Dress up with an outfit involving a Gaia insignia item (Gaia Shirts, 2nd Anniversary Hats, Balloons, G-Pins), or create an outfit with Gaia's
colors (Pink, Blue and White). The ultimate way of showing your support for the site going into an event.


In addition to SPIRIT WEEK, we will be holding contests both before and during Spirit Week!!

Clutter it up!
As you've already read, the basic idea of clutterday is to get as many items on your avatar as possible. Well, we thought it'd be interesting to make a sort of contest out of it. Think you have the most items on your avatar? Well, post in the thread and Ren and I will count it up for you (using the user profiles). The female avatar with the most items will receive a Wild Orchid Kimono, and the male avatar with the most items will receive a Diamond Yukata. If there's a tie, we'll figure out a way to pick out a single winner for each gender. ^^;

Blast From the Past!
On this day, many users will have revert back to their original avatars. Well, we understand that some people might not want to delete their avatars for just a day for whatever reason, so they're more than welcome to use a mule account to participate in Blast From the Past day.

Now, to the users who plan to use mules - we're asking for your help. If you're going to use a secondary account to participate in Tuesday's event, please PM [ Hiroko ] before the day of the event (Tuesday, February 14), and give me a picture of your first avatar, and a picture of your favorite current avatar for the Tuesday's contest.

As for the actual contest, we hope to get enough anonymous first avatars to start a guessing game where users can try to figure out which newbie avatar belongs to who. (You will be posting your guesses in the thread.) The two users (one male, one female) with the most correct guesses will win a Inner Fire Kimono and a Royal Yukata.

I'm pretty sure that by now, most of you have seen user quilts, where an individual user makes a patch representing themselves, then trades their patch with another user in a way to make a big user quilt in their profile, on their myspace, livejournal, etc.

This idea is similar to that, except, think in more of a scrapbook sense.

Got a screen cap of a character from an event? Have an image of one of the old layouts? Make a patch out of it!!

We want to make a quilt of all the events/changes on Gaia from the very beginning of the site until now. It is our gift to the admins that EVERYONE can help add to, for free.


`! how to make a patch

o1. All patches must be 50 pixels by 50 pixels with a border.
o2. NO .BMP files. They're huge. Save your file as a .jpg, .gif or .png instead
o3. Please make sure the patches are of good quality. Suggested programs to use are Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. If you can make a good quality patch in Paint, then by all means, use that.
o4. Please send the patch to [ Hiroko ] so it can be approved. This means you'll have to host it somewhere. Try tinypic.com or photobucket.com. We will host it once it is approved.
o5. If you're not sure how to go about doing this just pm [ Hiroko ] and she'll help you out.

Hiroko's been rocking Gaia (LAWL) since 2oo4. B< Please, please, PLEASE call her Roko, though, as she really doesn't like "Hiroko" all that much. And above all else - drop the brackets. D; Her real name isn't exactly some big secrets, but it's something that only her close friends get to call her by, and she only really tells people after they've talked to eachother for sometime. ^^;

Roko's currently seventeen years old (whatanoldhag), and she's gonna turn eighteen on Cinco de Mayo. 8D Uhm, currently questing for portable headphones, and also really bad at writing profile thingers. D; Roko has a habit of completing all her quests, one way or another, though usually, Roko's just reallyreally lucky and has awesome friends. ^^;

Roko's pretty much single and not really looking, so don't bother trying (HAW). EXCEPT, she is engaged to the lovely Renaela on Gaia. X3 We justwanted a Gaian weddingkthx. D:

Random tidbit: Like Ren, Roko is also multi-lingual. B< Vietnamese, French, Japanese. FTW. XD

Now, to be honest, I started this idea on a whim, not thinking that Ren would have such a bigger plan for it. Talking to Ren about it really inspired me to fully dedicate my Gaian time to this event. ^^; It's only fair that the staff gets positive attention for their work. I hope everyone else can see how hard they're working, despite a few minor bugs and glitches, and I hope people will get a kick out of this thread. (Heck, I got a kick out of it before it even started. People are so funny when they're in suspense. XD <3)


Renaela has been on Gaia since waaaay back when it first began. Okay, maybe not then, but a few months after it began. As such, she holds exclusive cane waving rights and general rights to bitching about how it was in the "good old days" (whatever those were :3)

Renaela goes by a few names: Renaela, Rena, Ren... or you could go with the IRL and call her Christina, Chrissy, or Chris. She's going to be 19 on Valentines Day, and really loves just giving back to the community.

Currently, Rena is questing for a lot of stuff on Gaia. Her wishlist was named the blob, since it is ever growing and never diminishing. Also, Rena is attending her second semester of college where she is double majoring in International Business and Foriegn Language, and minoring in Accounting.

Rena is engaged IRL to her wonderful Ricky, and engaged on Gaia to Roko, who rocks her pixelated socks. Oh, and it case it comes to any relevance later, Rena speaks French fluently, and can also speak some Spanish, and some Italian.

As aforementioned, I've been a member on this site from the very beginning. I love the administrators for all of their hard work on this site, as well as the moderators for trying to do their jobs amidst stress, pressure, and public dissention. I am proud to say that I have never complained about Gaia in the slightest. It introduced me to my best friends, keeps me close with them, gives me something to do in my free time, and acts as inspiration for my crazy ideas. For every user that bitches and moans, and complains, there are at least 10 users that might not be satisfied, but are thankful for all the effort and hardwork put into it. This is about giving back and saying thank you to those who leave their families on Christmas to fix the caroling event, those who make jokes about their own mistakes to make the site better for us, those who spend a lot of their time in those server buildings, trying to make the site better and faster. This is for them, as a way of showing how much we appreciate everything they've done. I know we mentioned all of this somewhere above, but please, if you even participate for one day, one event, show them how much you support them. They deserve it.

HOKAY. Here's the deal. Ren is MIA right now - probably at work or something crazy like that - and Roko's SUPERDUPER tiredlikewoah. Hokay? K. If any part of this post is NOT comprehendable, please excuse (mydearauntsally - does anyone remember that? o __o; *LOSER*) me because I am not fully there in the head right now.

FORTODAY! What we want you to do come up with a story. BUT NOT JUST ANY STORY! It has to be about *drumroll* GAIA! (Duh.) We want you to be a creative as possible! Make up your own storylines or give your prediction to what the outcomes of the current storyline will be. Make it funny, make it sad, just BE CREATIVE. <3

There's no set guidelines on what you have to do to be picked the best, but keep in mind:

o1. Roko's tired like crazy. Ren's probably gonna be tired after work. Lengthy stories are LOVELY and all, but if you make it TOO long, you run a risk of us not caring anymore. >___>; I KNOW, I'm mean, but WTF. It's true. D: If you HAVE to make it superduper long, try to make it one of those stories where we can't wait to see what happens next. x:

o2. We're not gonna be grammar/spelling nazi's or anything, but Roko has some serious undiagnosed ADD/OCD problems and if there are just WAAAY too many mistakes, I lose interest no matter how interesting your story is. D;

o3. WE LIKE TO LAUGH. And sometimes we like to cry. XD And when we're really mean and the story's really bad, we can't decide if we should laugh or cry. JUSTJOKING. D: Don't be intimidated. Roko's currently going through one of those hyperness kicks she gets RIGHT BEFORE she's about to collapse and sleep for hours.

o4. Again with the ADD/OCD problem thing... I pay attention longer when you use a smaller font. >_________>; HINTHINT? <3
