Given the French influence in Canada I'm surprised you're not more informed on it. Shows more of my ignorance of Canada than anything now that I think about it. As the posters before have certainly informed you; you can celebrate Mardi Gras anywhere (preferably where there is bountiful amounts of alcohol to be had (so long as you're legal to drink of course). It's a fun time whether you use it as an excuse to drink or actually stick to all the fun stuff you do for it.

king cake is super yummy - basically like giant doughnut with colored frosting - oh and there's a baby Jesus hidden in one of the pieces - if you get the baby Jesus, you get to make the cake next year =P the baby used to be plastic but now at the stores i see that it's one of those edible sugary things - so drunk people don't choke on the baby Jesus I suppose - that would kind of ruin all the fun...
