the cake is called King Cake.

Ah, right! They also put little figurines in the cake, and whoever gets the slice with the little figurine in it gets to boss everyone around for a day, right? o u o
And what are the three things the colors represent on the cake? o:

Well ,in principle there are no colors on the cake...Anyway not on the french one...He must have brought you the spanish version of Kings Cake(it has fruits whit lots of colors)...And bringing a kings cake on Mardis Gras is SUPER WEIRD!
In principle you eat kings cake (galette des rois in french)on kings day,the 6th of january ,the day when the 3 wise king mages came to present holy gifts to baby jesus.
And that s right,Kings cake IS delicious.I have some every year since I live in France! biggrin
I even know the recipe but I won t give it to you ,lol...It s my greatest treasure!!!! biggrin

The King Cakes of Louisiana are topped with white icing and colored sugar, green, purple, and gold. Here, we also eat them on Mardi Gras as well as days-weeks before and after.
The figurine, generally a small plastic baby, is hid in the cake. Whoever finds it has to buy the next one.
I forget what the colors are. Really, no one cares XD It's all just a big party at this point!

I remember years ago I went to a party with my grandma and mom and they had a King's Cake. My grandma accidentally ate the baby . _ . It took a long time for everyone to get to the bottom of the missing baby from the cake. I'm not sure how she didn't notice it in her slice of cake but she didn't xD

Oh ,I didn t know...Well,that s good,I ll die less stupid! Our figurines can be of anything(this year I had a really weird one that looked like the Tikki Mik -something people in ZOMG....That WAS creepy ,haha)....And the figurine is not made out of plastic but always out of porcelain (I think it s because ,a long time ago ,they tried to find the material that would stand the heat of the ovens ,and then ,that became a tradition ,I guess!!!!)
Anyway ,I hope everyone had a fun Mardi Gras!

Most places don't bake them with the baby inside of them (at least none around here, and I live in Louisiana), instead putting it inside afterwards, or bagging the baby separately (because some sue-happy jackass is bound to raise hell otherwise).

And, to be honest, king cakes are little more than big cinnamon rolls topped with colored sugar. xD;; ...Maybe toss some kinda filling in there, but we're not talking about rocket science here. Still good, though.
