Uzumaki is great if you have the stomach for it. There are more than a few disturbing images and scenes, but I think the overall story is excellent.

Quote:
Kurozu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but by a pattern: uzumaki, the spiral, the hypnotic secret shape of the world. It manifests itself in small ways: seashells, ferns, whirlpools in water, whirlwinds in air. And in large ways: the spiral marks on people's bodies, the insane obsessions of Shuichi's father, the voice from the cochlea in your inner ear. As the madness spreads, the inhabitants of Kurouzu-cho are pulled ever deeper, as if into a whirlpool from which there is no return...

There is also a film adaptation which I don't think is very good.
I read Uzumaki. 'Twas OK, I'm not easy to scare so the horror was more of something I was witnessing happening then something that struck me. I do remember some scenes and the general story, which again, was good, maaaaaybe great but definitely not brilliant.

The artwork was detailed and well done, though. It's mostly a good, entertaining read.
I rather enjoyed Uzumaki, creeped me out alot XD
Out of the horror mangas I've read, Uzumaki would definitely be up in me top 5 horror
heart heart heart heart
Uzumaki is probably the only real horror manga I've ever read and it was really great. The only part that actualy disturbed me a lot was when that old grand-ma, I forgot who it was I think the mother of one of the main character, is in the hospital and she cutes her finger (of course it had to take half the page in a giant pannel, of course). God that was disturbing to me. And I remember it being implied someone destroying they're ear lobs with like a scissors or something similar near that part too. Or was going to, I'm not so sure anymore, but that would probably have creeped me too.

That whole... snail... spiral...person... part was just sily though. I get it, I really do, but I just found it really hilarious. I liked the lighthouse part though, that was interesting.

Hahahaha, actualy it was even silier when they're eyes popped out for me. I mean what the hell where they on when they made that part xD (I don't know, but I want some fast xD).

I don't remember the girl with a vortex in her head? Sounds weird.

In the film he puts himself in the washing machine. Loses mystery that way.

Have you read Ibitsu? That's also weird and unique. Super creepy! Had me on the edge of my computer chair.

Two volumes, fifteen chapters. You must read it! What's Cage of Eden?
