The thing that keeps me into manga is that... it's a really fun escape from life. Sure, I do love to read non-comic and non-manga books, but sometimes visuals are nice too. ^.^ The stories are so fun, funny, and creative, and the drawings are beautiful and at times hilarious. (Gotta love the thousands of expressions manga-ka have come up with~)
And over American/Western comics... there's no comparison. A lot of effort goes into the process of creating a manga, and... it can't be beat.
a lot of processing goes into amer. comics too

the main diff. is translating. but i agree, manga is a sure way to escape the reality that is life!
xd
I know, I know... I just feel the same way about manga as opposed to American comics as I feel about anime as opposed to American animation/cartoons/animated movies. It's more of an art form as opposed to entertainment, in certain cases. (I've had so many debates with anti-manga, pro-Amer. comics people, it's bringing some "sighs" from me right now by saying all this... .__., )
I love both equally as art. and in certain cases amer.comics is more of an art form too
sweatdrop for pages on end they have nothing but art and no words, because the art is so expressive.
I don't want to debate on the subject, because i know people have their own opinions, i just want to express my own.

(that is debating isn't it haha

sorry for the hassle
