About the Manga

黒[Kuro] 執事[Shitsuji] or translated into "Black Butler", is a manga written and illustrated by Yana Toboso. It started from September 2OO6 continuing until now, releasing chapters monthly.



Summary

"Several months later, my missing nephew suddenly returned. Together with a butler cloaked in black."

Ciel Phantomhive is a 12 year old boy who made a contract with a demon named Sebastian Michaelis. In exchange for Ciel's soul, Sebastian must fulfill all his Young Master's orders and have revenge against those who tainted the Phantomhive name. Until then, the contract cannot be "broken". Having his parent murdered in fire, it certainly changed the boy, but as the Phantomhive Earl, they must solve mysteries and crimes in late 19th century England, following as Queen Victoria's loyal "guard dogs". Unquestionable knowledge, looks, talents, skill..

Sebastian Michaelis


Voice actor: Daisuke Ono

Sebastian Michaelis (セバスチャン・ミカエリス Sebasuchan Mikaerisu) is the "Black Butler" of the series. Often, he describes himself as "one hell of a butler (私はあくまで執事ですから watashi wa akumade shitsujidesukara)". As a demon, he is known to have many skills and, as most women describe him, he's "extremely attractive and seductive". He is usually seen in a black tailcoat.

Sebastian is a "cat obsessed freak", or so Ciel calls him.
In Chapter 44 of the manga, he's shown to be hiding 15 cats in his room!

Following Ciel wherever he goes and fulfilling every duty flawlessly, he certainly is a devoted and loyal butler.





Ciel Phantomhive


Voice actress: Miyuki Sawashiro.

Ciel Phantomhive (シエル・ファントムハイヴ Shieru Fantomuhaibu) is the Earl, or head, of the Phantomhive household. He runs the Phantomhive Company which manufactures toys, sweets, and other goods. He wears a black eye patch to cover the purple pentacle in his eye, in other words, the sign of the contract held between himself and Sebastian.

Before he lost his parents in the fire, he appeared to be a happy child. At that time, he enjoyed playing with his cousin, Elizabeth Middleford. It was then the marriage was arranged (she's his fiancée now).
