Welcome to the thread, maskedquerade. ^-^;
I don't really mind spoilers myself, though, well, it really does depend on the person. I want to read more up on Alchemy, as it's been seen in anime, but school's been killing me...to a certain extent. sweatdrop
I'm unsure of how many people would be able to keep up a conversation in Japanese, though...I don't know a lot of Japanese myself, and the text I've "attached" to my posts is just a BUMP (I've seen it spelled as 'banpu' and 'banppu', but I don't know which one is right, 'cause they both sound logical to use...).
ninja バンップ~ (BUMP)
I would keep it simple with banpu, since you don't naturally pronounce "bump" with a glottal stop between the M and the P.
Now... this is chapter 38, looks like. after a whole bunch of stuff happens (yeah, I know, but I really don't want to translate bubble by bubble, it's annoying), Roy and Havoc confront Lust in the bottom of a (in use) research facility.
Lust: I've missed you, John.
Havoc: Solaris... Why are you here...?
Mustang: You've met her?!
Lust: John and I are dating (essentially he's been doing the favor of dating her)
Mustang: Hey, she's got the Ouroborous tattoo.
Havoc: That's new to me.
Lust: I'm sorry I didn't say anything about it. (some sentence I can't quite translate about receiving information)
Mustang: I know why you didn't tell me (about her). YOU LIKE BIG BREASTS, don't you.
Havoc: I LOOOOOOVE big breasts.
Mustang: What did you tell her?
Havoc: I didn't tell her anything about work.
Lust: That's right. You never said a word.
havoc: I know the difference between work and my private life.
Mustang: Solaris... you said?
Lust: A pseudonym.
Mustang: Do you know Maes Hughes?
Lust: Oh I know him
well. (creepy font change) And it's too bad I wasn't the one to stop him. (/font)
And then Mustang shoots her in the leg.
Mustang: Tell me everything or I'll hurt you.
Lust: It's impossible. You cannot hurt me.
And then Mustang shoots her several more times, including a well-placed shot between the eyes. She starts lapping up the blood streaming from her forehead.
Lust: Ha... haha (actually fu... fufu..., but that doesn't really make sense in English) That's just like you, the hero of Ishvar... you have no mercy.\
Havoc is freaked out.
Havoc: You're ... homonculus?
Lust: Oh, you said that well. Let me show you something.
Lust is ripping open her chest, and the sound effect they chose is quite disturbing.
Lust: Can you see it? The Philosopher's Stone...
Mustang is looking quite shocked now. She releases her chest and it knits back together
Lust: The alchemical power enhancer which is spoken of as a thing beyond legends. We are people made by this stone. That is what we are.
Mustang: Monster!
Lust: That was rude. We cannot go outside our natures, we have feelings, we love the father that made us. (creepy font)We are human(/font)
Havoc is completely freaked out. The big-breasted, beautiful girl he was dating is a monster. Fancy that.
Mustang: Well, now that we know the big secret, you're going to kill (erase) us, I suppose? And the big secret that homonculi are here (err... trailing off in my translation here).
Mustang: Havoc! (very loose translation) As we're going to be killing her, forget she's a woman!
Havoc: s**t... I've got horrible luck with women...
And Lust... Lust looks so sad here, I believe she really likes Havoc, and doesn't want to be killing him. Of course, she's pretty ruthless about murdering him, so.... I dunno. And then... she attacks! She knocks Mustang's gun out of his hand.
Mustang: Havoc! Cover me!
Lust: Too slow!
And Lust cuts open a pipe, drenching Mustang with water.
Lust: Since you're drenched, you can't make your unique fire, right?
She attacks again.... and they run away screaming.
Havoc: What are we going to do??? If we stay like this, we'll be killed.
They have a short conversation, Roy uses his wet glove as a transmutation circle to turn the water into gas (rearranging the hydrogen and oxygen in the water with the carbon in the room), and Havoc throws in his lighter.
Boom.
Mustang looks rather calm about the whole affair, but Havoc looks rather rattled by the explosion. They reenter the room, short conversation while they search through the ashes, and then...
From a pile of debris, Lust's finger spear Havoc through the abdomen. He collapses, Mustang nearly has a heart attack, and Lust is reforming her arms as she stands up. She lunges forward as Havoc mutters about having bad luck with women. Her chest and face are knitting together, you can see bones and muscles. She was nearly completely destroyed by the explosion, but just a little bit left over, and she completely healed.
now comes the really cool part.
Lust: (font)It's too late. nothing can save you now(/font)
Mustang: No...
He grabs Havoc's rifle, shoots Lust in the neck, and as she falls over...
Lust: It's no good! I'm not dead yet!
Mustang plants one foot on one of her arms, the butt of the rifle on the other...
Mustang: The method of our salvation... is here!
He reaches down, and rips the philosopher's stone out of her chest (nevermind that the sternum should be in the way, go with it). She's screaming as he pulls the bloody stone (in more ways than one) back in a rather dramatic stance.
Mustang: I understood that the Philosopher's stone was powering your life. And I will use it to save my subordinate's.
Lust has this pitiful look of shock on her face, stops screaming, and quietly crumbles into dust. Mustang goes over to Havoc.
Mustang: Havoc! Pulls yourself together. It's not my specialty, but with the power of the stone, maybe I can...
You see the stone spark; Mustang is using it to amplify whatever power of healing he possesses as an alchemist. But....
Lust starts growing out of his hand. You see the bones and muscles in her upper torso forming back together, and her hadn is resting rather lightly on his arm.
Lust: It's rather rude to steal a lady's heart (not quite right, but it goes more smoothly than the literal translation), Colonel Mustang.
Mustang: OMGWTF!!!!????
And then she spears him through the abdomen.
Wow, that didn't take so long, only half the chapter. But it does show something about the fundamental workings of the homonculi. In order to keep them down, you have to resist the temptation to use the stones that power their existence.
...
If you have any specific questions about alchemy, I can try to answer them.
