This fan thread is for one of the marvelous, most underappreciated of all the characters in LotR: the Talking Fox who saw three Hobbits wandering along at night and thought it was very strange but didn't find anything else about it.

He is the most intelligent, most well-formed in thought, most magnificent of all of Tolkien's creation, a servent of Eru, true in thought, word and deed, the Einstein of foxes, the King of Mammals, the secret servent of Yavanna, formed in her thought before any other animal was yet made and set to roam. It is immortal like an Elf, changeable like a man, wise like an Ent, sturdy like a Dwarf, majestic like an Eagle. He is humble, designing only to appear in a single scene.

But he will come to be appreciated, for is his thread. This thread is dedicated to the Talking Fox of LotR, to elevate it to its true position.

Rules.
1. Thou shalt not insult the Fox. Ever. The fox is the true, unsung Hero of LotR even if he is never admitted as such.
2. Thou shalt heap praises on the fox and honor it.
3. Thou shalt not curse and thou shalt obey the Gaia ToS.

Come, friends, let us praise the Fox, the unsung hero, now.

The Blessed Passage:

Three Is Company
They set no watch; even Frodo feared no danger yet, for they were still in the heart of the Shire. A few creatures came and looked at them when the fire had died away. A fox passing through the wood on business of his own stopped several minutes and sniffed.

'Hobbits!' he thought. 'Well, what next? I have heard of strange doings in this land, but I have seldom heard of a hobbit sleeping out of doors under a tree. Three of them! There's something mighty queer about this.' He was quite right, but he never found out any more about it.

Okay, maybe not a talking fox, but a super intelligent fox who can think in sentances more coherant than most of what I see in most threads.
I have incorporated the passage into the first post, for all to read it and see how very noble and very true the Fox is.
Praise the wisdom of the Fox!
All hail the Majesty of the Fox!
I'm Furry for the Talking Fox!
When one gazes upon the Fox, then one is filled with awe at the intelligence and wonder at his prowess. He is steathy when he wishes to be, and invisible, a true Fox that all wonder at and stare at in his majesty. He shall ascend to Valinor, and take his rightful place among the thrones of the Valar!
The Fox is beyond all of us in majesty, prowess and intellect.

All shall bow before the Fox!
He is our Hero and Rolemodel!
Yea, verily! We shall follow the way of the Fox!

With literacy and intelligence!
The Fox should be revered, for he does not wear pants!
Or, maybe just literacy!!!

( Way to ruin a moment, DC. rolleyes )
