Through out the LotR novels Frodo invokes the names of two legendary Valar as a battle cry. I remember that the second one is Elbereth. But who was the first?
I'm not sure if this is the answer, but the name Githoniel or Gilthoniel is linked with Elbereth in a poem earlier in the books, so it might be that?

That sounds about right to me. I was thinking that is was something similar to Gil-Galad (I knew is couldn't be Gil-Galad, though) and Gilthoniel sounds close enough to me.

I shall consult the Wiki to make sure.

You are correct AND I had it backwards. Frodo cries "Elbereth Gilthoniel" not "Gilthoniel Elbereth".

Thank you for your help. ^^

Glad I could help! biggrin
Better than in the film where his battle cry seems to be "...*drops sword, puts on ring*" or "Aaaarrrraagoooorn!".
Well, in the movie in Shelob's Lair, he cries, "Aiya Earendil elenion ancalima!"
That's not screaming for Aragorn XD
