Welcome to Gaia! ::

Sam would have sacrificed his life for Frodo if it needed to.
but Frodo is really worthless of any kind of sacrifice, what makes him that special ?
he behave like moron, i see no resean of all that respect given to him from the other characters,
and in the end of it he tried to use the ring -_-'.
No s**t he tried to use the Ring. Did you somehow miss the part where they said that The One Ring corrupts whoever carries it and makes them obsessed with it as part of it's own machinations to return to Sauron?

Frodo was the only suitable person for carrying out the task. THAT'S why everyone was willing to lay down their lives for him.
Frodo was perfect for the ring. The ring corrupts the person, and Frodo resisted more then anyone else could.

I mean imagine if Boromir received it?

Boromir? Pfft. Imagine if Gandalf or Galadriel had actually taken up Frodo's offer of the Ring.

Or worse, if Saruman had not only captured Frodo, but kept the Ring for himself.
Perhaps Frodo was developed less as a character than Sam, and other characters so that the reader could identify the traits they wanted in the hero with some flexibility.

I think the same thing is done with Harry Potter.
i know carrying the ring was such a tough mission and Frodo was good at carrying it out.
but Frodo was given almost the whole attention of the movie, i didn't like this fact. There were more ruthless missions that had been done & heroes who fought hardly & amazingly in the battlefield, also there were ones who sacrificed their own lives , attention must be distributed to all the characters more fairly than the way it was done .That's my point .

I dont like Frodo very much... But I dont think so. He isnt boring.^^
Frodo fought just as hard as anyone in any of the battles, and was as much a candidate for sacrifice as anyone going into a hopeless fight.

The ring is not just a ring that needs destroying, it is pure evil. And evil is seductive.
Frodo was the only one who understood this enough to fully resist it.
Sam (love him as I do) does not understand the power of the ring, and therefor wouldn't have been able to resist it because he is TOO pure to understand the evil it is.
Merry and Pippin are foolish (Though I love them as well).

Do you remember what Galadriel said? She WANTED the ring. Because she would be a queen, that everyone would "love and despair". In the hands of a ringbearer elf, the ring would have been such a tool for the evil forces as cannot have been imagined.

By taking the ring, Frodo knew that he may lose himself completely to its power, but that he was the only one to try.
Frodo does the equivalent of placing your head on the chopping block and hoping the blow will never come, hoping you can talk your attacker out of it by sheer force of mind and will. You see the chain of the ring slough off the skin around his neck by the end, but what it does to his mind... it's unimaginable. And he WILLINGLY set out to destroy it, KNOWING it could overtake him if he were not careful

That deserves sacrifice.
yeahh sam is bettr thouah bt frodo isnt the worst

He's the CENTRAL CHARACTER OF THE BOOK. No s**t he's going to get the attention of the movie. That's like complaining that the original Star Wars trilogy focused too much on Luke.
The fact that he was willing to accept this burden that would most likely take his life is why he's so heroic. Most people can't see that because it's hard to display that. A lot of the burden is psychological, but there are also physical effects. Next time you watch Return, look at the bruising and blood around his neck from the literal weight of the ring when he's in Mordor.
Can't tell if the author of this thread is stupid, or just trolling....

While reading the last book, you really realize that Sam's been the true hero all along... 3nodding
That doesn't entirely make sense saying that he tried to use the ring makes him a bad candidate for carrying the ring. It says that whoever bears the ring will become corrupted basically.. however I think he did an overall Job as Frodo. I mean it's a given that a lot of the other characters had more chance to develop rather than him but I think it was done intentionally. Through out the movie he starts out overall innocent, laid back and interested in all sorts of stories. However as the ring corrupts him he starts to question those around him and you can see how it effects the way he thinks and acts overall through out the movie its a slow gradual process. I believe as he does become neutral some what devious acting he tries to hold on to the good that is left in him and along the way there's Sam trying to keep him sane and protect him, however this is just my opinion it's okay if you don't like him.
