Welcome to Gaia! ::

I really think it depends on your personality type. When I saw the first movie I was 10 or 11 I think, i'd read The Hobbit previously but didn't really connect the two lol. So I saw it with no real knowledge of it (infact I only saw it because the movie I wanted to see was sold out). Turned out I was totally amazed by it and was severely disappointed when it was over and I had to wait until the next one was out. So I didn't think it was boring at all. But then again I have a friend who cant stand the films (or books), she gets bored within the first 10 mins. So I guess it depends if you're really into it or not.

The first movie would be pretty boring if you haven't read the book. Even if you had it still is kinda boring. I've read all jrr Tolkien books except slimarillon since all the copies I've seen are falling apart.
I watched half the first, the second, and the third movie all in a row. Far from a boring series.
I don't like to think of the books, or movies, as separate entities. It's one story, and they're meant to go together, not to be taken in bits and pieces.
this is not boring movies, i love to watch many times smile
No.

Especially the directors cut
I don't find it boring. It is a little slow, but most of the first movie is concentrating on building the storyline and all the characters. The cinematography is amazing and the music fits perfectly, I wouldn't have wished for it to be done any different. Tho a little appearance from Tom Bombadil wouldn't have hurt...
