Book Legolas, Movie Legolas... Both had some pretty awsome scenes, no? And while Book Legolas certainly was more cheery and open, Movie Legolas was all mysterious and observing/calculating. And let's not forget, he did announce the obvious a few times to get the entore fellowship aware of what's happening, since in Moria Pippin did push the skeleton chained to a treasure chest into a well, waking the Balrog and the orcs. So, Legolas simply says "orcs" to make the hobbits that were new to this kind of thing aware of the fighting about to occur, so to speak. Plus, let's face it, he is a better shot with the bow and arrow than many of us will ever be... In short, epicness all around, in the books AND movies :3
