Treebeard is such a cool character, I love his prose. I think that the added scenes about Faramir and Boromir and super important as well. They add so much to both of those characters. Plus more screen time for Faramir. *gush gush*

David Wenham... yuuuummm. My movie crush is pretty solidly Éomer, I just adore everything Karl Urban does. But Merry has all my hobbit love... usually. Sam is a contender again because once more, I love everything Sean Astin does. It's a long standing relationship, from my childhood with The Goonies and Rudy onward.

I personally find it more terrifying in German because German is one of those language that it's easier to sound menacing, though it isn't necessarily always mean! And you're spot on, I am an exchange student. It's so fab, I love it.
