Boromir is my Fav (flame suit on!) but here are my favs and why:
Aragorn:The natrual leader for most of the movies. His personal journey reminds me of some japanese saumrai story of a hero excelent in battle but flawed in character. And he had the resolve and loyalty to do what no one else could: let the ring go.
Boromir:Yeah, most hate him. But he was tempted because of his love for his people. He was natrually compassionate for his soldiers and his friends when Aragorn was cold and distant at times. In the extended of fellowship, he even confronted Aragorn for turning his back on his country and people. But the biggest reason I like Boromir is his physical appearance in the movies. His outfit and armor are awesome looking, and his actor, sean bean, really had the part down. even the swordplay choreographer liked him the best. Lament that he did not play a more substantial role.
Gimli:Too bad jackson made the dwarf the comedic value. great fighter and funny, but the movies made too light of him, turning him from a stalwart fighter and friend to a clumsy, bumbling oaf.
Legolas: Too much hype. he looked the part and he brought a lot of athletisism to the character, but he is overrated.
Gandalf: WHO'S BAD?!
Eowyn: Really pretty eyes and smiles in the movies. the tragic heroine. more animated that arwen, but thats my opinion.
Theoden: He was a d**k at first, but he got better. his speach before they broke the siege of minas tirith is the stuff legends are made of.
Eomyr: didnt have a huge role outside of any fighting. kinda sux, because he is basically the southern version of aragorn and his sworn brother in the books.
Faramir: Just imagine if he had been in the fellowship instead of Boromir? because of Denethor's stupidity, Boromir could have been left in charge of what he does best (a general) and Faramir could have been more useful in the fellowship as a ranger like aragorn. he also had more willpower and would have stood up to the ring better than his big brother. i dont think he would have died if he fought at rauros falls in Boromir's place...?
