I can't remember it's exact name but a few years ago I owned a magazine that was essentially nothing but sewing patterns for lolita.
It was in Japanese however but I feel with the assistance of your grandmother it may be a viable tool to try and track a couple of these down.

I can't link them due to ToU stuff but there's apparently a couple on ebay right now.
