Where could I find some pretty dresses? I'm kind of on the large side. I have a feeling SOMEONE is going to make fat comments, but eh, whatever. Help?

Yup, I guess SOMEONE is smile
Nothing wrong with being fat, but you need to consider other people when you make your dress choice.
For example, fat people shouldn't wear tank tops and cutoff jean-shorts because it's hideous for other people to look at, but on a slender blonde 20-something girl, it would be quite ok to wear.
If you want to dress in Lolita fashion, just make sure you wear something modest and in theme. Don't go for a sexy look when your body type won't match the outfit... Unless you WANT to repulse everyone and make them laugh at you =P. Oh, and be made fun of on 4chan, ofc. Lol.

No, no, no. Fat people can wear whatever they want. They can wear anything that skinny people can. What you said is so wrong for two reasons:
1. You don't get to tell other people what to wear. Period.
2. You are talking on the assumption that everyone finds larger people unattractive and skinny people attractive, and this is far from true. If she needs to cover herself up because SOME people will find her unattractive, then everyone needs to, including yourself.

People CAN and DO tell you how to dress. Men can't go into a club in shorts or singlets or thongs, no one can walk around naked in public, no one can walk around in their underwear in public, schools force you to wear a uniform, work places have a dress code (which often stipulate women in customer facing roles MUST wear makeup).

1. People can dress how they like, so long as they're happy to suffer the consequences of dressing that way. Ugly women who dress like skanks are inconsiderate arseholes who deserve all the "bullying" and "teasing" they get.
2. The vast majority of guys find skinny women sexier than fat women. In fact, the vast majority of men are actually sexually repulsed by fat people.

So err... Deal with it?
First of all, pretty women who dress like skanks are not better than ugly women who dress the same.

Second of all, all of your examples are dress codes set by law or establishments. The bouncer at the club can only deny you access to that club if you don't follow the dress code. Schools don't come to your house and tell you you have to wear your uniform at home. The cops don't care if you go naked in your own home. Etc.

Third of all, you are a shallow closed minded, prejudiced jerk.

And lastly, different men like different types. Most men actually prefer medium sized women. That's why models for men's magazines usually have more meat on them than high fashion models that women think are attractive.

1) I never said pretty women who dress in provocative clothing are better than ugly women who dress the same. I said fat/ugly women who dress provocatively are inconsiderate of the people around them who don't want to see their vulgar bodies.

2) I don't care how fat/ugly women dress in their own home, I only complain when they sexualise their unsexy bodies in the public domain. Your point is moot.

3) and you are an idealist femanist who needs a serious reality check... I am talking about real biological sexual stimulation. You are talking about a fantasy realm based on western christian values.

4) Is this your opinion, or fact? According to Sexual Nature/Sexual Culture, a textbook written by Psychologist Donald Symons, humans have evolved to find younger, leaner, fitter, females to be the most attractive form to men. So please cite your claims or kindly stfu, thanks smile

It is not any woman's goddamn job to worry about anyone else's "real biological sexual stimulation." Nothing we're talking about is "fantasy." Everyone likes different things, that that is a fact obvious to everyone who has ever gotten out into the real world. There wouldn't be porn of people of different body types and races if people didn't find "fat people" attractive. I don't need to cite myself, you need to go out more, because this is common knowledge.

You are sexist, and shallow-minded, and apparently lack self control if you can't just not look at something you don't want to look at. And you act like we're saying something wrong. Get over yourself.

oh, it's true that there are lots of different fetishes, but they deviate from the norm. The majority of men find skinny women to be most sexually appealing.

and it is not women's responsability to make themselves sexually apealing to men. I never said this. BUT it is EVERYONE's responsability to stamp out offensive behaviour. Just as you are offended by seeing an old fat naked man in public, I am offended by seeing a fat skanky woman in public.
I will happily avert my eyes and shut my mouth about such vulgarities when you are able to avert your eyes and shut your mouth about the vulgarities of a naked man in public.

What is pissing me off is that you have a double standard here and somehow you still manage to convince yourself that you have some kind of fantastical moral high-ground - and ae not able to privide evidence for any of your claims.

why do you think it is okay fo you to complain about what offends you, but not okay for a man to complain about what offends him?

women's rights have gone too far. it's not equality, it's becoming a rule under female lead oppression of men. Us men have a right to stand up fo ourselves, and there is no way you can deny me, or any man, his right to feel safe and comfortable in a public space.

all I said to the OP was to be considerate of people around her and dress in a modest way that matches her body type. I gave her no lip or harrassment. YOU have come in here, guns blazing, trying to start a war over something that you have no hope of winning.

You have NO REASON to feel uncomfortable around people who aren't dressed in a way that you see to be ideal. Just think about that. For a person to wear little or no clothing hurts no one. There is no reason for anyone to be offended by it.

I guess it's time for you to avert your eyes and shut your mouth, because I do believe that if people are most comfortable that way, they should be able to go around naked. Don't assume things about me. Please explain to me how I'm setting a double standard, because I am not.

There is no female lead oppression of men. To suggest this when women are still being paid less than men, when we're still arguing about whether women should have access to contraceptives, when one in six women will be raped in their lifetime and less than one in twenty men will, is COMPLETELY ludicrous and incredibly offensive. You have suffered NO oppression from women. You are here oppressing US, and if you do not see that, you are blind.

When fat chicks wear slutty clothing is makes everyone around them feel sick. It's like trying to eat a meal while sitting next to someone who shat their pants. It's ******** disgusting and highly offensive. All I ask is for people to respect everyone around them by dressing in a way that won't offend others. But you seem to think you have some right to ******** off everyone around you for your own selfish pleasures.
You're a nasty piece of work. Self centred close minded rude and nasty.

And women oppress men's civil liberties on a daily basis, using rape and pay as a cop out for everything. How dare you bring up rape and pay as an excuse for your oppression of men!
Every day that goes by, women are telling men "don't do this because it offends me, don't do that because it offends me" and as soon as a guy says -very diplomatically- be mindful of those around you, and please try not to offend them" you go all out defending your right to be offensive and justifying it by saying you have a 5% chance of being raped!
The threat of rape does not give you the right to be an arsehole.

It's called working together - a concept that is so blatantly foreign to your feminist brainwashed mind.

There is no point in continuing this conversation with a sexist man-hating woman as horrible and nasty as you.

Citizen

Woa.
Big argument.

I would like to say a few things.

- I dont like it when people dress overly skanky. Regardless of their mass. Since when was being skinny an excuse for poor taste?
- What i think of the way other people dress doesnt really matter that much anyway. It doesnt stop me from functioning if i see a bit too much skin.
- Guys have all kinds of tastes in women.
- Rape is a major problem. Do not just brush it off as an excuse.
- Women get paid less than men. Its a fact.
- What are the men's civil liberties that are being oppressed? Examples please?

YOU have come in here, guns blazing, trying to start a war over something that you have no hope of winning.

flamers gunna flame.
haters gunna hate.
sexist feminist bitches gunna be sexist.

Look at you, trying to speak for everyone in the world. Asking people to set aside their own comfort for the sake of men they don't know, and then calling me selfish.

I have not oppressed men. I do not hate men. I have friends who are men, my significant other is a man. There are men who understand that the patriarchy is wrong, and that the patriarchy even hurts men as well as women. Women, on the other hand, are not hurting men.

You are here telling people how to dress on the basis that they are women that you do not find attractive. You use derogatory terms that were made to oppress women. You belittle the issues that women face every day. I do not have a 5% chance of being raped. I have a 20% chance by conservative statistics. I have been raped. Multiple times. My friends have been raped. My family has been raped. I was raped because of men thinking I am worth less than them because I am a woman. Other people who know what happened to me pretend that it isn't a big deal. Our mutual friends stayed friends with him. Some people have told me not to call it "rape," because you know, it doesn't matter if I said no, said that it hurt, struggled, it just wasn't rape. You pretend that you understand what the word oppression means, but it is something that you will never feel. You will never be treated as sub-human based on your sex or your gender. Men are not oppressed.

I know that you can't see the amount of people tipping my posts, or what people message me personally, but you need to know that you are making people feel unsafe and uncomfortable. You said that I have no right to make people feel unsafe and uncomfortable in a public space, but that is what you are doing. You are hurting people here. Don't tell me that I'm selfish, because you are the one hurting people here.

Jumping in to say that this jerk is an asshat, and that I think everyone agrees that we're sick of his asshattery.

I have friends who are a little bit on the large side. I have friends who look like toothpicks. But they're still my friends, despite their bodies and how they choose to clothe them. And when you keep on arguing how you don't want to see "fat" women wear skanky clothing, Lolita is NOT a fashion that would provide a gateway to that. Skirts and dresses are supposed to be at knee length, and even short socks are debatable. Most people recommend stockings or long socks. Shoulders are usually covered, unless it's Summer and really hot out. Cleavage is not recommended, and most people see the fashion as trying to deviate from the skankier fashions people wear today. There are lots of larger women who wear Lolita, and they look gorgeous. I don't care what somebody weighs or how their body is shaped, they have every right to wear what they want when they want where they want. If you can't see that, you're just an insufferable p***k who doesn't know when he's been beaten and that he should just quit now.

Women are not oppressing men AT ALL. Women have had to fight for decades upon centuries for the rights we have now, and we're still fighting. If I was working in a company, doing the exact amount of work as a man my age who had been working there just as long as me, he would be the one getting the bigger paycheck. It's been proven time and again that women still aren't equal after all this time. Now don't get me wrong, I think feminists are kind of dumb, and this is coming from a woman. I don't want to be treated like a guy. I just want to be respected for who I am and what I do. Treating people equally sure sounds all well and good, but then we have people who are insufferable pricks (i.e. you) who get just as much respect as Jessie, who's a sweet girl and deserves much more respect than you're giving her right now. Please, make sure that you know what you're getting into before you post stupid comments again. Or better yet, don't post stupid comments at all.

Though I agree with much of what you're saying, I really don't think you understand what feminism means. I've never met a feminist who wants to be "treated like a guy." I'm a feminist and quite active in politics and those aren't my views at all. Feminism is about recognizing that women are not treated in a fair way and acknowledging that it is wrong and needs to change. Much of the things you have said would easily be considered feminist views, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I'm not even going to debate all this negative crap above here. But I will say that a woman's body is theirs. Their genes, their choices, THEIR BODY. It is not up to anyone else to determine what is vulgar or not for any other person. People feel that because women are women, their bodies, chocies and lifestyles are immediately up for discussion when it's nobody else's damn business.

For the record, I'm I'm the lower end of being plus sized. I don't have a perfect face. Yet I've been harassed and dressed modestly in everyday clothes (t-shirt, jeans, sweater etc). But if I were a "perfect 10", I'd STILL be harassed and be up for discussion simply because I happen to have boobs and a cooter. There isn't any way to get around it unless you are male. Then it's OKAY and ACCEPTABLE to be overweight, stuffing your face with endless buffalo chicken wings, drinking 5 beers with every meal, and rubbing your big beer gut on TV. But if a woman eats a hamburger she's a fatty, if she eats a salad she must be dieting. If a woman is too skinny she needs to eat a hamburger and if she eats a salad she must be anorexic. It's all ridiculous and it needs to stop. People need to mind their own business.

To be on a positive side, I bought my first brand dress, and although it's a little on the snug side, I can wear it. After I lose a little more weight (and it's been something I've been doing for myself for my own reasons, not because I hate my body) it should fit wonderfully. I just can wear it with a cardigan and it'll be fine for the time being.

I'm also noticing AP putting out a lot more plus-size friendly items as of late. Wonder Party fits up to 110 cm bust and 95cm waist! I'll be saving up for this for sure! *_*

I really appreciate that you did mention skinny women, and not just plus sized. I've taken a lot of crap for being skinny, and yet I rarely hear that issue adressed when body-shaming is discussed. It's nice to hear my experiences being represented, not just those of plus-sized people. It all comes from the same source anyways, so I think it's silly how only one side seems to be talked about.

I have some friends that are eternally thin and couldn't gain an ounce if they tried. Although one of them has IBS, but the others are just naturally that way.

But I will admit that plus sized people tend to get the shorter end of the stick when it comes to body shaming. But it happens regardless no matter what your weight or bodytype is.
If one calls you out for being fat, tell yourself it's their fault if they cannot see further than physical appearances and never try to change for others, but for yourself, only if you want to.
