Why do people care about valentine's day?

I think it's cute, really, just as long as people don't get emo over it.

I'm going to be single for it, and yeah, I'd rather be with someone on that day. Oh well. I'll find something cute to do for myself, like make a cake or something. Also plan on spending some time with my best friend, but only after she's had time with this guy that likes her.

I'm not going to hate the holiday just because other people think it's stupid, but I'm not going to obsess over it just because a lot of single people will.

It's just a cute day that makes me smile.

You're mistaken "People" for "the Media" just because you see it on commercials more often than the show you're trying to watch, just because you see celebrity gossip about it, just because you see stores stocking up for it, does not mean the people of this country actually give a s**t about it. However, it is a holiday, or a special day at least, so I might just ask someone out on that day. Not one to go all out on Valentine's Day, but I'm the male, everything's up to her stressed

I enjoy Valentine's Day. It reminds us that we should show appreciation for the people we love and who love us. You don't need big, expensive gifts to show that. Last year, my boyfriend got me this really pretty plant in lieu of expensive roses, and it's still alive today. heart

I don't see the point in getting emo over being single for Valentine's day, though. Do you not care about anyone else? I loved giving my friends a little card and piece of candy. This year, I took it a bit further and crafted some cards together out of fabric. I had fun making them, and will have fun giving them to my friends.

I never really cared either way for Valentine's Day. To me, it's like St. Patrick's Day, just a day to spend with those you care about, but not make a big deal over.

Why do people care about Valentine's Day Halloween St. Patrick's Day "The Holiday Shopping Season" any big commercial holiday?

Because our society is full of mindless drones that get hyped up about whatever the TV screams at them to do and will spend their money on whatever's socially normal.
Granted, these holidays have cute little traditions attached to them that are fun to do and might even be somewhat meaningful, but they get blown out of proportion every year. Ugh.
