might be that there is more of an open air when it comes to sex...
and there isn't any respect anymore.

i think the main reason why so many teens are sexually
active these days is because of peer pressure, the image of being cool if you lose you virginity,
and the curiousty of knowing how it feels like. most kids feel the need to figure out and see
what it is when they come upon things like porn and such. ( i know i did. redface i found out
a lot of things at a young age that most would think are inappropiate.)

Well although teens always have been having sex, back then it was mostly in marriage 'cause people married early. In the 60s however, a philosopher and a psychologist came out who talked about how sex is natural and shouldn't be suppressed only to marriage (or something like that). He was very influencial, as you can see. That's why your parents aren't that different from kids today in terms of having sex, they're probably not so old as to be born before sixties. Also I'd like to mention that teens were WAAAAAAAY more intelligent than they are today, so they were more ready for sexual activity, and again it was more in the bounds of marriage. A study also shows that in the 50s, only 25% of women in North America had premarital sex compared to, what, like 90% today. stare Just some info.

Actually, MSN featured an article that showed that teens are no more sexually active than they were fifty years ago. That means when your parents say they didn't do that when they were kids....they are lying!

So I guess since that has been mentioned, the real question is are teens today more stupid about getting pregnant than their parents and grandparents ever were?

That's an interesting point. But to me it seems that kids are trying to grow up and can't handle the consequences of many of their actions.

Hormonal control is one of the things that they are lacking.

Maybe they need something to work for to help keep their minds busy..

When your a teen your hormone level are huge and so is your curiosity. You don't have to give in to them, sure it is tough but you can say NO. There has been a lot of people who have given in and screwed up not just their lives but a babies. Think about it!

Duuuuuude. Teenagers have been having sex ever since the world spawned the human race. A century ago, the average life span was forty years so by the time you hit your mid-teens, half your life was nearly over. Why do you think people got married so young? Seriously, man, telling us NOT to have sex will not work. Might as well, educate teens on birth control.

Hey, learning to say no is a life skill and without it your life may not be to pleasant. Listen, people have been doing lots of things for many generations that are not healthy. Should they just keep doing them because they will anyway? Drawing a line and not crossing it shows maturity and just may be love if not respect for your boyfriend or girlfriend.
