I'll keep this brief: I recently unfriended a "friend" on Facebook because when I was homeless on the street she did nothing to help me. She had a home, a car and food in her pantry yet she was content to know I was wandering the streets after an horrific experience of bullying, physical violence and even threats of death. I unfriended her and she didn't realize it until like, two months later.

Did I do the right thing? Would you have forgiven her for leaving you in a bad situation when you knew she could've helped you?

She never owed you anything. neutral

User Image oh well.

life moves on
no sense in keeping people in your life who don't deserve to be there.

i do the same thing. it's only awkward if you run into them later or if they get dramatic about it.

Dapper Pup

Something tells me there's more to this than what you're telling us.

Girl

She'd be a better friend if she helped you, but that doesn't mean she's obligated to.

I don't understand the concept of believing that since she was your friend with a house, car, and food in her pantry- that she was obligated to help you. That doesn't make her a bad person or friend either, she must have had her own reasons for not offering help.

I don't think I can answer that for you. you gotta decide for yourself whether that was in your best interest or not.

Interesting Citizen

Unless you've helped her out of the same situation or something worse, I don't see how she owes that to you.
And just because someone looks stable/well-to-do, doesn't mean they are.
