I think it's fine for a guy to read Twilight- it's not that great of a book, but hey

it gets people to read

that being said- almost all of the characters were ridiculous and unlikeable

Bella is annoying and too "perfect"- she's smart and pretty and slender and an endearing klutz whom all the boys somehow like, and she's so...ARGH.

Edward is a jerk. I don't understand why all the girls like him- my ex was a lot more fun to be around. Edward is bossy and manipulative and ....

Personally, I didn't think the series was well written. There are tons of times where Edward will go on for like ten pages at a time doing nothing but providing background, and the spacing of the entire novel is spotty.

Sparkling vampires are ridiculous. And the vampire baseball thing is stupid too. What would happen if someone accidentally shoved Edward into Emmett or something? Would there be a loud bang? And how did they get birth certificates and social security numbers and such? O_o;;

If anyone else in this thread likes vampires, they should read Sunshine by Robin McKinley. It's a good, dark, much more realistic book with a main character I loved, and Con > Edward anyday.

Okay, Bella is not "PERFECT" and the book never said she was PERFECT that is just your mind telling you this. Bella is a real person to me, because most novels about teenage love are about sporty, popular girls with everyone at their feet or socially awkward geek girls. I'm tired of all those books because they just don't feel real. There are not many books out their about REAL girls. I can relate more to Bella than a sporty blonde chick.

Edward is not bossy. But you are aloud to have your own opinion.

And birth cetificates and social security numbers you've got to be kidding. Anyone, with enough hacking ability can get those. And anyway, there are lots more novels out there that have a huger "how the hell do they do that" factor.

About your Sparkling vampires point, who ever said that vampires are coffin sleeping things. It is your own imagination that creates these things and the fact is that lots of people have different ideas on certain creatures. If everyone thought along the same lines, we would be in a totally boring world, don't you think?
i find nothing wrong with a guy that reads twilight. it'd be a cool thing to talk about with a guy blaugh

i am starting to read it. so far im not a fan at all. crappy writting style in my book and the story is way too overdone. sorry, im just really picky after the 100th vampire teen romance novel
I would maybe stick to the original myth. Or Anne Rice... yeah but her books are just better.

Pffft. No.
You're not the only guy to read Twilight. I know at least two others.

Well, considering you're not a 13 year old girl going through an emo or goth phase...

OFT.
Seriously speaking, go ahead and read whatever you wish to. A book is a book.
biggrin
I know another six guys who read Twilight.
I've never read it and I don't plan to. Twilight sounds overrated.
dude no way- my group of friends is ALL reading twilight- boys and girls alike.

i haven't read it yet but i hear it's just an awesome story...

in general though (outside my group of friends) seeing a boy read ANYTHING is kinda surprising lol (sorry if that was offensive to anyone sexist-sensitive)

It's a novel, not a graphic novel. You can find it in the Fiction section of Chapters or Cole's, or some kind of bookstore. Twilight is the real name of the book, yes. It's the first installment of a series.

oh ok thanks

As I said- she's an endearing klutz whom everyone immediately likes. The boys fight over her. She gets good grades easily. She's pretty. She's slender, even though she never exercises. She has NO faults. If she really was socially awkward, the guys wouldn't be falling over themselves to talk to her.

It's "allowed".

Plot holes are bad. I make fun of any books with gaping plot holes, not just Twilight.

*headdesk*

but SHINY is such a...teenagery thing. It's so ridiculous words can't even describe.
I don't think it's odd. I think it's a wonderful thing guys like to read. really.
