Welcome to Gaia! ::

I will never get that shot. I'm an adult and I'm actually awake... Good luck darling.
PS: I believe it is the lay if your 16 or older you have a choice to take it or not. Your parents can pressure you into it but not in a legal way.
I had the opporotunity too, but I turned it down.
The shot is made of dead virus particles, so you can't catch the flu from getting the vaccine. As I understand, the current reported side effects are pretty standard for most vaccines: nausea, redness/swelling at the injection site, stuff like that. If you're allergic to thimerasol or eggs, you shouldn't get the shot.
Really, it's up to you. If you've never had any bad reactions to a vaccine, you'll probably not have issues with this one. Personally, since I'm not in a high-risk category, I'm not getting the vaccine. But if you do choose to get it, it's likely that you'll be fine.

Our ancestors had no vaccines and yet here we stand today, stronger than ever.

The Swine Flu has swung through the USA before, albeit a different strain, yet we were still able to survive.

I would warn you all that the H1N1 Vaccine has some pretty horrific side-effects, the first to come to mind is Dystonia.

Ex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR5p_bD3uLc

Dystonia - Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder in which sustained muscle contractions cause twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal postures.[1] The disorder may be inherited or caused by other factors such as birth-related or other physical trauma, infection, poisoning (e.g. lead poisoning) or reaction to drugs, particularly neuroleptics
That girl had a regular, seasonal flu shot, and there could have been underlying issues that were just triggered at the wrong time.

The chances of developing dystonia are 1/1,000,000.

I'm not getting the shot. There have been 4 girls to get the shot where I work, and we have 4 girls down and out. They got a real bad case of the swine flu the same day. Two women who come into the store regularly are pretty messed up. One had to be hospitalized with a severe case of swine flu and the other has nerve damage in her arm and in her shoulder.

H1N1 isn't as bad as everyone says it is. I got it, and I'm supposedly "high risk" since I have asthma, but the worst of it was a fever that peaked at 101.8 and the the fact that I missed six days of school.

Everybody's different, so even a high risk person might not be affected as badly as someone who's not supposed to be one. Even the shots are that way, you may or may not experience the side effects .____.

It's really not a case of universal bad or good. Because someone's bad could be someone else's good.

Personally, I have a neurological disorder which is supposed to put me at high risk, but I didn't know that until my Mom got off the phone with the doctor's office, opened my door and told me "Get dressed. Shot time."

I told her it's not like it's suicide if I don't get it, and she said "If you died, I'd feel really bad."

I can't really argue with her, because she's nuts that way. Even if I actually am right. Even Dad agrees.
