Welcome to Gaia! ::

Saeric
It's on my birthday. confused

I hate the Day of Silence, and I'm not straight. It does nothing but make everyone irritated. Be loud, seriously. Tell people why gays deserve equal rights. In my experience, all the day does is make people who couldn't give a crap about gay rights for the whole rest of the year feel smug and superior because they didn't have to answer any questions in math class. And if you're not in high school, who's going to notice? Really.

Ghandi freed India from British control without being extremely loud. He simply made himself known.
I'll try and participate.
Thing is, I'm always talking no matter what, though.
It'll be tough.

... wait, did the day already pass!? What!? eek

too late huh.

It's in April.
I'm noticing that my input here meant a whole lot of nothing. O_o

And if it meant something... It was very much misunderstood. -_-

C'est la vie.

Gays just need to turn to God and be forgiven for this sin called "Homosexuality". The day of silence sounds ridiculous to me.

"...Self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone,
and using His (God's) name for your own protection."~ 'God Thinks'-Voltaire

Those song lyric seems to work here (there's two lines before that would really suit you here IMHO but I'm being nice). You don't even know the guy yet you're judging him based on his sexualty. I'm sorry, but I don't think being gay is a sin. It's not in the 10 commandments is it? No. So why is it a sin? Why is being gay considered worse/as bad as murder? Besides with the over population of the world, we need a few homosexuals to balance things out.

Anyway, on the original post. I have a few gay friends and they aren't participating because they think that silent protest/awareness isn't helpful. They're more...passive types though, they won't say they're gay unless someone questions them directly (it's pretty obvious with two of them but yeah). And if someone does question them/bash them, they try to explain themselves as coherently as possible without getting insulted or angered. I have a lot of respect for them since they've had to deal with a lot of people thinking they're sinners because they like the same sex. Or people thinking they're horrible disgusting creatures. I think it's really stupid to judge someone based on who they ********]

So, you got self-righteous and judgmental from that 1 post? damn you must be a damn good psychologist..... rolleyes
