If the participants are not educated on the risks and willing to take the proper steps to prevent said risks--then they are half way there to being ready for sex.

The other half of being responsible is being self-aware enough to know when they are emotionally ready enough for that level of physical intimacy.

It's been a long time since I've had the opportunity to voice my opinion on this.

I think it's 100% wrong, period.

I lost my virginity a little more than a month ago to someone I love. I'm 17, and I regret the decision. Not to the point where it eats me alive, but if I could go back and time and have saved myself, I would.

I mean, let's pretend we're all still cave people. Sure, have sex all you want. It's not like you need anything other than your natural instincts to take care of a child. But in today's world, you have to have a job, and therefore, and education. And there are so many more influences in the world now that you need to protect a child from, and educate them on, that you need to have a great deal of life experience and wisdom in order to even begin to steer them in the right direction.

Now I know what you're thinking; who said anything about having kids?

Well, even if you use protection, there's always a chance of pregnancy. Now here's why I think it's wrong to take that chance. This is just my person opinion.

Since sex was naturally something that didn't involve condoms, or patches, or pills or anything, sex naturally leads to having children. Since it's probably the most intense act that can occur between two human beings, I think it's disrespectful to the act to have sex before you're ready to take care of children. What's even worse, is when someone gets an abortion, ending a potential life, just because they weren't ready. Because they couldn't keep their legs shut until they were responsible enough to handle the real consequences of having sex.

No, teenagers should not be having sex. Until you can stand on your own two feet without any assistance whatsoever, are completely independent, and have enough wisdom and experience to support two lives, keep the ******** legs shut.

This is under the assumption that everyone wants to have kids. There are some people who NEVER want to have kids. Are you saying they should never have sex?

I agree with BT, but, at the same time sex is a very mature thing and most minds of teens haven't matured enough to have sex, and then there are bodies.....young teen bodies are not ready either...so I don't support it and that is why.....I also think that giving yourself to some one is the ultimate gift in the world and feel you should at least be in LOVE with the person you intend on having sex with....just my thoughts.

I'm going to agree with everybody who said when they fully understand contraception and have decided what they'll do if something goes wrong (and how they're going to go about doing that). On an emotional level, once they have talked with their partner about what sex will mean for them and are positive of what role they want sex to play in their lives. Once one is sure they know what they want from sex and that it matches what they'll get from sex, how to protect themselves and what to do if that protection fails, then I see no reason why they can't enjoy themselves responsibly.

See I'm the guy in our relationship and I ask her if and when she does. I'm 17 and she's a year younger than me. I mean I'm the kind of guy who's well and can wait until she's ready no matter what. We've been dating for about 2 or 3 years now, and not on and off either, and we've talked about sex with each other and our parents. Her dad, of course has a huge problem, and My Father says as long as she is ready and I am ready AND we take all the protective steps it's alright with him.
I do support it if you are turly ready and its just not an urge.

I honestly don't support teen sex....

However, I believe a couple should be obstinate until they are ready to be married and start a family.

Though, that is only...sadly, an idealistic and very old perception. XD'
